I was looking over the Ninja Tune catalog and i came across this track called "Nuzzling" by Drome, released in 1993 on Wigman Records then the next year on Ninja Tune.
sorry don't have a full audio for it to up here but theres a clip here at the discogs page:
http://www.discogs.com/Drome-The-Final- ... ase/136915
We could point out a lot of tracks from even before that year im sure but this track really captures the Dub influences with a Downtempo speed imo. Had it been released today i think it would've been a great addition to lets say, the Deep Medi catalog? i think so.

true, lovely tune. But there are so many "avant la lettre" dubstep tunes out there you wouldn't believe.

Look at Boards Of Canada's Basefree and tell me you don't hear Burial...

something people have to remember is that "dubstep" is just a combination of bass and tempo and vibe. there's so many tunes going back in time that sound like, were they released today, they could easily be considered dubstep. take for example-

to me, that sounds like some tribal Mala style dubstep, just without a heavy sub bass. but that shit came out in 95 !

wow that 'Autechre - Second Peng' is stunning! reminds me of Darwqwan for some reason. And that Squarepusher.. always pegged him as a IDM nut, but 'My Red Hot Car' is one sick monster of a tune. Goes well beyond what i'd expect a combination of Photek and Elemental might sound.

Theres a Dubstep track on the Leftfield album...Think its called "Chant of Poor man"... bad tune.

2 Lone Swordsman make a few dub steppy tracks before dubstep was "Official"...
