-- AFRICA HITECH --
We’re honored to bring you a show with veterans Africa Hitech (Mark Pritchard and Steve Spacek). As a duo, Africa Hitech expands the boundaries of simple electronic and synth productions; their blending of genres that range from Jamaican dancehall to jazz to grime and everything in between suggests a musical sophistication unlike any other act today.
With their newest release “93 Million Miles”, out last spring on Warp, the group makes what they do seem flawless: seamlessly blending acid synths, drum & bass, Sun Ra and field recordings to create a beautiful, disjointed, yet shockingly cohesive journey into the recesses of dance music's long history. Forceful yet gentle, passionate and comforting, “93 Million Miles”, in its exploration of all different types of sounds on the musical spectrum, meanwhile exposing a widely expansive journey into human emotion.
Longtime legends of the scene, Africa Hitech is still making music that breaks boundaries that have never been broken before, and we’re along for the ride during this 2+ hour set.
-- SEPALCURE (RECORD RELEASE / LIVE AV PERFORMANCE) --
Brooklyn’s own Sepalcure are a duo each now known for their own distinct projects as much as their collaboration: Travis Stewart of Machinedrum & Praveen Sharma of Braille. Based on their overlapping love for dance, the two musicians teamed up to hone their poetic yet club-rattling take on tribal dub, house, two step, Detroit techno, and more.
This very special performance at LPR is in part a celebration of their latest self-titled effort, dropping November 21st on the prestigious HotFlush label. The unrelenting string of recent singles from Sepalcure in the meantime - Deep City Insects (for Frite Nite's recent compilation), Pencil Pimp, and B-Side I'm Alright - display a murky soulfulness that has been garnering fast praise.
The set will be accompanied by a fully fleshed out live AV performance, a very long time in the making.
-- MUX MOOL --
Native Minnesotan and resident Brooklyner Brian Lindgren is Mux Mool, a relentless creator of bedroom electro hip-hop. Using whirlwind breakbeats and crunchy 8-bit sampling, Lindgren creates revelatory explosive music like none other on the scene today. Not easily broken down into traditional electronic music definitions, sounds, or noises, Mux Mool is a style you just have to hear for yourself.
--
DJ Kiva (Dubspot / Adios Babylon) will be rounding out the night, spinning sets starting at door time and between acts.
Let's party y'all!
