Too big?
Bit of a random one for you. It's in regards to my studio. Basically I have lately bought a new laptop what seemed great, I always used to connect two monitors to my old laptop by VGA. Now though, I bought a Dell XPS and for god knows what reason, it doesn't have VGA ports! Just HDMI... Whats not great really seeing as my monitors aren't HDMI compatible... I do on the otherhand have in my bedroom/studio a 32inch full HD LG LCD tv. Do you reckon using this as my monitor will prove to be a viable option? Can't really complain about not having enough space to play with I guess...
How big are your monitor(s) and how beneficial do you find it to have a large work space?
Nuff' love.

Re: Too big?
Unlike most of my peers, I use a 42 inch LCDHDTV as my monitor connected via HDMI, and TBH I don't regret it single iota. Space as well as display size certainly help maximize work space, both physical and virtual. Depending on how far away you're sitting from the monitor, you might have to adjust your font size however.

Re: Too big?
Use the tv it will be fine.
I would suggest you rather go the option of a 42 inch monitor though

Re: Too big?
Took me a second to realize that you were talking about an actual computer monitor rather than speakers. It's been so long since I've actually used a real monitor I think I've forgotten they even exist. I have a dell XPS as well, and mine actually does have an analog and dvi monitor port, but when I'm home I usually have it connected to my 60 inch HDTV via HDMI. A little excessive I know, but I got sick of the limited space from the laptop monitor so one day I just connected it to my tv cause I didn't feel like spending the money on a monitor, and that's what I've been doing ever since. I would highly suggest if your tv is HDMI compatible to fire that baby up with your computer and use it. As it is the line between computer monitor and tv are quite blurred, and TVs work just as well, if not better.

No you can't. To go HDMI to VGA you'll need a converter, not a cable.VirtualMark wrote:you can get an hdmi to vga cable if you want to use your old monitors.
Get a USB to VGA adaptor, they're about £1.50
Re: Too big?
Yeah I bought a HDMI to VGA cable, then only realising when it showed up that it would be no good as a cable isn't going to convert signal type.
In the end I opted for using 32 inch TV, after a few teething problems it works really good.
