What's the deal with Dubstep Allstars Vol. 3?

Post by i already knew »

Well I've recently got into Dubstep within the past 6 months or so and within that time I've bought quite alot of vinyls and CD's (keeping in mind that the last time I spent money on music was in 2001 with Dr. Dre's album).

But anyway, I decided to buy all five volumes of Dubstep Allstars. I love every single one but 3's my favourite but the most annoying thing is the annoying voiceovers on nearly every song. I can't enjoy the tunes because of the man with a Jamaican accent reciting annoying sentences. Is this just my copy or was the CD actually published like this so you can't even enjoy the music?

Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:
Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?

What's so funny? So it's not just my CD then, why would they put him in nearly every song. It sounds like those promo CD's when voiceovers are used to stop bootlegging.

haha welcome to the world of the voices over tracks, jamaican roots, you can sell your copy though!

Hmm, suppose I'll just have to get used to it. I've already got all the tunes I like from that album on vinyl or CD now anyway.

why don't you actually try sitting down and appreciating the cd for what it is...maybe try listen to "the man with a Jamaican accent reciting annoying sentences" before critisizing it...and then if you're still not feeling it, then fair enough, but plz don't start a whole new thread about your particular dislike of a man's voice.

Err, what makes you think that I don't enjoy the CD for what it is? It's just hard to enjoy it when the voiceovers are there. It's not like he's riding the riddim or anything, he's just rambling, not even in tune with the song and at times it's not even at the same tempo. I'd just prefer it if I could listen to the songs on the album without the voiceovers and I was just wondering if I had a bogus copy. I didn't say anywhere that I disliked his voice, I'd just prefer it if it wasn't there. All in all, Dubstep's new to me so maybe this voiceover business is something I'll have to get used to with mix albums.

well calling it annoying doesn't exactly lead us to believe you like it.

that's so contradictory, space ape is part of what makes the cd what it is, so basically u just like the tunes by themselves but not the way the actual cd is constructed in which case you actually don't enjoy the cd for what it is but rather just like the tunes in them, and there's nothing wrong with that, i was just suggesting u try embracing the cd as a whole, but if you're not feeling it then fine, i just don't think it's all that constructive posting a thread about it...anyway, each to their own, hope u find more stuff u like :D:
