I thought that was already known, but the question as to why he was shot unarmed was what wasn't being answered by the police which led to the unrest.

The fact he was shot wasn't the problem. If guys go round with guns, occasionaly things like that will happen. The problems started because it was badly handled by the police afterwards and race issues.

the fact he was scum wasnt the problem. police cant go round shooting unarmed people, things like that shouldnt happen. The problems started because the met police are generally a racist horrible zenophobic bunch of stnuc.

Its the same everywhere. It takes a certain kind of person to want to be a copper. Even when they stop you at night for random breathaliser tests they still act like dicks

Yeah. The unrest started after the shooting, when the police just mugged off Dugan's family. It was that lack of respect, rather than the shooting, that led to shit kicking off in Tottenham.

This. We were also being fed stories along the grapevine that shots were fired at police from his car, which clearly never happened. One bullet in his gun, unfired... doesn't sound like he was on his way to a firefight.

This sounds more and more like an assassination. It might not have been, but the police need to do a lot more to convince anyone it wasn't.

Toxicology tests indicate Duggan had some illegal drugs, namely ecstasy, in his blood stream. The effect on his behaviour, if any, is unclear.

Yeah, I bet that was making him well aggressive.
