Thoughts on Skream's new track 'Anticipation'?

Post by mattnlondon » Mon Nov 21, 2011 8:05 am

Skream's new track ft Sam Frank

personally i think its absoloute shite - but I'm a massive Skream fan, and he's posted on his facebook that he's going to a prove a point with his next track - so i still have trust in him..,

and its not that i don't like other genres apart from dubstep, I just think its an ill attempt at an 80% pop / 20% dubstep fusion, anybody else think its bad>

Not a fan, just sounds like any standard electronic chart track of the last 5 years, with a kick...SNARE beat after the drop. Listened to it a couple of times, won't be listening again.

I don't really think it's aimed at me anyway ;-)

For me this is one of those tracks that you listen to once and then never come back to.

Dont like it.

It's standard radio dance music. Can't believe I'm saying this, but I prefer the Netsky remix. Track makes more sense as a hype d&b track to me.

Stealing the main riff from Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone seems to be the winning formula for commercial dance music...

Not hearing it, but it's not as if that rhythm hasn't been used 10,000 times in club tunes for the past 2 decades

Doesn't excuse it's further use though. Ah well, like I said, not aimed at me, I'm dipping out now.

Big up Skream for that new(?) Hijak collab, if you haven't heard it, check it out in the Tunes & Releases forum.

Not a fan, but it's not aimed at someone like me ( i.e a 30 year old Shackelton obsessive ;)).

Skream is a fucking brilliant, innovative producer, and still caters for the underground, so I don't see a problem in doing something more commercially orientated as well.

The song lyrics/song itself is dedicated/talking about his son. I don't see a problem with that? You can't make a dark ass vibe about your son....on second thought....yes you can :o)

Lol, was waiting for "the song is about his son, therefore, it is immune from criticism" argument to come up. Jeez. It can be about his son, and it's great for him that he's happy, doesn't mean we're gonna enjoy the track anymore.

There's already been a thread made about this.

This. I thought the exact same when i first heard it. I really hopes he steps his game back up on the next track, because this was just terrible. I sort of like that vocal for some reason but the riff is just generic commercial pop.

Not my thing really.

Maybe he felt like having a go at making pop music or something.

He can do what ever he wants really and I'm sure their are plenty people out there who will buy this but as far as I'm concerned this is horrible and actually there is a lot of pop music out there that I prefer to this but whatever. Guy still releases tunes I do like so I can't really complain.
