KRK Rokit RP5-6 & 10s / RP8-G2

Hey, up-and-coming Producer and DJ here. Looking for a quality set of Monitors to mix and master with, also would like a set that can be used to casually listen / play games with.

I've done my research, and am totally into the rokit's look, sound, and design as a whole.

So, my question is, should I get the rokit 5's or the 6's? And,should I get the Krk 10s with it aswell?
OR
Should I go for the 8" RP8G2's, and forget about the sub.


Not asking for any other input in terms of other brands / comparable units. I'm set on the Rokit's, and just want to know which I should shoot for.
I will be producing in my room, which is not treated, and average-sized, about 9X12. I've asked around my circle of audiophile friends, most of which think I should shoot for the 5's(due to their quick response, and perfect rendition of high's and mid's), and get the supporting woofer ( for all of those low frequencies )

Tell me what YOU think, Dsf !

I own the RP8 G2s. Sick. Love em. been producing strong now for just over a year and just recently picked them up from my older monitoring system. Here is what I have learned: When you're starting out, you're not going to be able to tell the difference between some adams and some krk's....or at least I couldn't. What that should mean for you is to spend what you can in your budget. The golden rule for monitors is that it has always been an important investment. So do I regret spending the 200 bucks on some M-Audio cheapies, knowing that some day I'd always be upgrading that equipment?....Kinda. Are better monitors going to help up your game? No.

However, your real question is, "should I produce with a sub or not"...and as far as I know, from the MANY hours I have spent researching and learning, it is recommended to not produce with a sub-woofer until you really know your pitches in the lower end of the frequency spectrum. I have learned, that it's important for learning/budding producers to learn how to squeeze as much bass/low end out of your sounds utilizing a flat stereo field and no sub-woofer. This means that playing your track out of a sub after producing, will sound banging. If you were to start producing utilizing a sub-woofer, you might find that your tracks lack low end because the job of the sub is to amplify the low end, therefore "tricking" you into thinking your synthesis carries low end weight.

about the sub - that's probably true, unless you do what you should always do and test things on multiple systems.

but idgaf, I love producing with a 12" sub. makes shit fun

Getting the rp6s for Christmas, had them outta the box just to make sure they were ok and I didn't want to put them away again. They sound awesome and give a good representation of what your wanting to hear. Little bit more low end than I would have thought but I haven't treated my room yet to compensate.

In my humble opinion I'd go for the 8's. Never quite understood the reasoning for producing with sub as I thought the whole idea of monitors was to have the flattest response possible.

well my monitors have very very weak sub bass.
it can still be flat with a sub (right? as long as the levels are down?)
