Thinking about it seeing as this seems to have turned into a topic about ignorance I may as well tell you that the other day when I showed someone this they described it as 'some pretty weak dubstep'.

I swear, to some people, any and all music that has any electronic elements is dubstep now.

I know, although maybe as it has a drop and is a bit of a banger it gave him more reason to think it was brostep. And I'm assuming he thought it was weak cos he listened to it on wank laptop speakers.

Fuck what anyone else thinks, this sounds pretty good to me whatever it is!

Would have been called hardcore, techno or just rave. The flipside might be even better though is more trippy. Everything Casper Pound did in those days was sweet. R&S records were on a similar vibe. But anyone having the notion this is dubstep is truly a lost cause.
