are you for real?? what about dub, jungle , garage .... even jazz and classical music use bass in different and critical ways be it to help the key become more marked or as pure physical weight as in jungle...

The speed at which it's developing is ridiculous (a good thing, of course) but will this not mean that it will develop so much that the 'original' dubstep 'sound' will be lost to such an extent that dubstep will be no longer, and we'll have some other new, hybrid genre? I hate to think it, but I can very easily imagine Burial's debut sitting in HMVs bargain bucket in 5 years+
