Drum Samples or How to make drums please?

Post by BYTEME » Tue Nov 29, 2011 11:44 am

I don't want to use Vengeance samples anymore, so can someone help me in this department?
Anyone have any good drum sample packs or give me some programs for making drum samples or something?

I'm trying to make some Funky/Disco House music with Dubstep bass.
Keep progressing, one day you'll be great. :)

If you want better sounding drums, you should make them yourself. Of course by make them yourself I mean find individual samples and edit them to fit your tune. One professional sort of method for snares is to layer several different samples and even out the mid range and maybe even layer a sample of white noise underneath to add a sort of ring to them.

Great way to synthesize a kick drum is to use a sine wave + square wave -> Low pass the waves so that the sine is subby and the square adds a few harmonics to fatten the sound a bit. All you really need to do is adjust the envelope to have a fast attack and decay, with no sustain or release. Play around with different envelope settings until you find something you like, drums can be synthesized just as easily as other instruments, it just takes practice and patience.

Yea those are the best drums to sample, but when doing this and synthesizing them I suggest you still layer them with some other sort of noise to give it more of a full sound.

Try finding a song where the drums really stand out to you and see if you can use some clean hits.
