Proposal for a 2nd Dubstep Split: Dubstep & Filth
Proposal for a 2nd Dubstep Split: Dubstep & Filth
Hey
What with all the internal division going on right now in our scene how about we all seriously think about doing a 2nd Dubstep scene split?
(The first one being the Future Garage (or whatever you wanna call it) breakaway)
My suggestion would be: Dubstep and Filth
Neither name is derogatory (unlike the name Brostep) and I think most people could agree that it could work.
We could even make a 2nd General Discussion Forum exclusively for Filth.
IMO if it's not done soon the traditional Dubstep sound will be labelled "Chill" "Deep" or worse "Liquid" Dubstep, and no-one wants that!
Thoughts?

This was already discussed to death in Plastician's leaving thread. Changing the potential second forum from brostep to filth doesn't really change anything.

cool glad to see its happening, shame that the deep stuff didnt get to keep the name "Dubstep" but no bother. Better than the 2 styles being stuck together for no reasonleyenda303 wrote:I'm afraid you're too late: http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=190036OldHead wrote:was a decision made?

American filth artists and fans will keep dubstep, which is ok.. let's go for sub-step
Re: Proposal for a 2nd Dubstep Split: Dubstep & Filth
We should make filth listeners move to the back of the bus as well. Totally the right thing to do.
Re: Proposal for a 2nd Dubstep Split: Dubstep & Filth
Exactly, and while we're at it why not send all the filth listeners (who are apparently only American) off to some sort of seperate 'camp'wub wrote:We should make filth listeners move to the back of the bus as well. Totally the right thing to do.

It's a fucking stupid idea. It causes more pointless segregation and it'd be impossible to define.
Good tearout dubstep exists too let alone anything in a middle ground. I don't want to have to go for just Dr p or Some drums with a sine wave on it and what about purple or grime influenced stuff or any of the rough industrial sounding tracks. Dubstep is vast and that's why it's great. Just ignore all the little kids listening to boring mid range wank while drinking their wkd or whatever.

Re: Proposal for a 2nd Dubstep Split: Dubstep & Filth
so we should just ring up the dubstep council and have a vote then???
Re: Proposal for a 2nd Dubstep Split: Dubstep & Filth
Where would we draw the line though? There's a lot of artists that could fit into either catagory. What do we call old Bar9? And what point do Rusko and Caspa go from dubstep to 'filth'? Does the inclusion of When I Look At You and The Future in N-Type's Rinse CD make it a multi-genre mix? What about Skream's tune 'Filth'? It just wouldn't work, not to mention the impossibility of trying to get millions of people who get their knowledge of dubstep exclusively from the top hits on Youtube or some guy in their year 9 class who plays it on his phone to change their vocabulary...

That's the stupidest shit I've seen on DSF so far.Cornbreadddd wrote:

I realise this, I was using that thread to show him people are already referring to some of the non-filth sound by something else as that seemed to be his concern. I don't see why it makes a difference personally and have never understood this hatred for genre names. Who cares what it's called.legend4ry wrote:leyenda303 wrote:
