Dmisreal - The Mid-bass isn't bad, i don't really enjoy the beeping noise that you mixed in with it though. This and the pad could be a little more prominent, it's kind of eatin up by the bass.

MotionsEdinburgh - I love the percussion, the track does somewhat resemble rutten. I definitely feel like this wip has great potential.

PhilthyLoman - The dark atmosphere you established is really nice, i would add another element in at :42 though. The break just sounds like you turned downed the gain on the mid-bass. I think it definitely calls for a better mix with more elements.

This is supposed to be a Collab with a friend on the other side of the country. Here's what i have so far:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16491726/Untitl ... 20WIP2.wav
(don't want to post on soundcloud yet, this just an audio file not a download :D )

It might call for a simplification of the percussion after the break, anything else that stands out let me know. :)

drisreal: Like the intro, think the kick is a little too overbearing. Only crit for the track is levels, watch your levels. When it drops: Not my thing at all, you've turned this lovely paddy trap that is perfect for some rolling sub into a crappy midrange pattern. Not liking it after the drop i'm afraid.

MotionsEdinburgh: lovely intro, reminds me of early skream. Bass is great and those hats are supreme. Keep it going proper nice track.

Philthyloman: like the growl. Intro has potential. Think you need to sort out those levels, the track gets quite muddy.

Ascian: Like the tempo, kick and snare sound a little bit too unoriginal. Could do with some layering. Like the drop. Good levels of sub. Just up the ante on your percussion a little and you are on to a decent track.

Subfect: great track, love the subs and it is subtle. Think the levels need a bit of a going over.

Reliq: like the BD, like the 8bit sounds, like it all. Great effort.

GV1: interesting beat. bit gimmicky.

Jetpack: like it but I think the snare could do with some work, at least get some lowpassed verb on it. Not sure about samples. Think the track rolls better without them. Not sure if I like the lfo'd wobble at the end, bit basic and irrelevant.

Here's one i'm toying with:

@Leave Blank: Err... not feeling this at all. I was rather confused when I started listening to it....

@dmisreal: Ok, your drums are too loud. Waaaay to loud. Your hats seem a bit too sharp try EQing out the REAAAAAALLY high end. Your intro was pretty cool, just turn the drums down. Also, your mid range bass is a little too loud as well. Try turning things down.

@MotionsEdinburgh: Really chilled track. Turn up that bass a little bit though. Cant wait to hear more!

@PhilthyLoman: I think the reason you have a headache is because it sounds waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy too reverbby. Honestly it might be a good track if it didn't sound so..... stretched out? Idk how to explain it.

@Ascian: Ahhh really cool. Its got a siiiiiiiiiiiick groove. Nothing for me to complain about can't wait to hear more.

@Subfect: Really cool and minimalistic. Gonna drop a follow on your SC.

@Reliq: As for the song. I dislike it. Its not my style. As for the mix, EVERYTHING is mixed superb to me.

Heres my newest track. Its super deep, I'm gonna stick with this style. I enjoy making it ALOT please let me know what you think, and also if you have a name let me know! Haha

Nice, i think you could be onto something if you added something to drive it through, any update on this?

As for my contrib, it's a wip, not near finished, but basics down

@Mad_Ice - Sounds good so far. I would recommend working on your flow or timing a bit more. Overall the track is nice but there's a few hitches in it where the timing just doesn't sound right. (: Good tune!

@slinkydubs - Very nice tune! I love how dark the tune is. Nice intro, too. I'd be interested to see where the track goes from here. :3

@antman - Great use of sounds. The wobble sounds great. The drop fits really good. Overall, great WIP track. :3 I'm gonna follow you on Soundcloud.

This is my first post on the DSF... I'm excited to hear what you guys think of my WIP stuff(:

Of course, I just didn't even feel like it was dubstep. It just sounded like drums and some strange noises

@djacidyoshi for your waah track, sync the lfo rate so it sounds consistent and less random, then get a strong melody behind that main bassline cos youve made a really good raw sound there, just dont ruin it with skrillex type randomness haha!
@antman smooth deep bass youve got going, id put a flute behind that, like skream - rotten, to keep the listener grooving away!
@leave blank production behind this is top class, ping pong on the kick drum is different but defo works! quality bass, only thing id add is a nice deep pad

dont look into the drums on this, havent worked on them at all yet, i just cant decide what to do next for the track, willing to take any suggestions! also if you like the melody and shit, ill down for a collab, havent done one before, i use live 8 :)

@antman - that's sick dude. Those wobbles remind me of the oldschool dubstep before it became a wobble-fest. The break I'd probably reduce a tad, the 2nd part really adds some nice weight to those basslines. Thanks for the input :) Some of the distortion just seems a bit ... odd. Like it's clipping or something? Basically makes your distortion dirty rather than clean, if that makes sense? Consider yourself followed back :)
@leave blank - what levels were you referring to? The panned bass hits to the left and right seem a bit odd, creates an odd effect.
160 bpm roller - for all the skankas.

@LukeRaith, nice sounds dude! If i can say anything about the track, maybe turn down the drums a bit in the mix and add some reverb to them as the whole tune is wide. and maybe make the drums a little more varied. excellent song though, very nice! :4:

@ElementTJ- Nice song although the bass feels a little, idk, normal, very generic. maybe add some high tones and hide em underneath that huge bass or some tremolo to fuck with the sound a bit. other than that, keep up the good work!

@antman-great atmosphere and automation, the only thing i can is maybe modulate that sound a little more so its more...flexible, it seems very stiff. also, maybe move the waveform around a lil while to get some good skanking going. other than that, like always, tune is great mang

@Ascian-Tune is fucking mint brudda, mad respect to you and your skills.

here is my newest WIP

Lol, you wolly. It isn't dubstep! The tempo is 111bpm for starters. I guess it is drums and weird sounds.

Thanks for the other peoples constructive feedback though. Re: the panning on the kick, was skeptical about doing it at first but think it worked quite well.
Gunna go back and layer a bit of sub under the sliding midrange I think just so those with a tiny attention span aint put off before the weight kicks in.

@subfect: I have to admit a slight flaw on my part: I listened through mdrxb500's and not full studio moniters so I didn't get the full range of frequencies i'd have got if I listened through my mackies however, the xb500's have good bass response and I stand my ground on the bass comment. The panning makes it sound muddy. Don't pan the bass, the best way to use panning imho is on your percussion. Bass needs to come from all sides at once, it should be weighty and overbearing in a good way. As I said before though: it is a great track.

Crow steppa at first I was like WTF, but when it dropped, you earned respect. you can make drop highs chrispier, and intro more interesting, and add some variation to it.

Subfect nice intro, add to 0:55 buildup, to extra burtal drop, and after bass apart from 0:55 and then drop again.

ElementalTJ it is super good, try add faster durms, like in DUbba Johny third dubstep tutorial.

Mad Ice not bad, try to variate sound of wobble, and you can see the waveform, there are "gaps" every beat, fill them with sub bass.

now MAH TURN :D

@Sunshaft: This is a great track. Levels and everything sound good, sub hits hard. Only thing I don't really dig the break part at like 1:12, I'd do something different here.
Takes away from the energy of the track.

@crowsteppa: I like it after the drop, but before it i just dont like the notes the lead synth is playing. It seems a little unpleasant to listen to, personal preference though. Production wise its great.

@Luke Raith: I'd have the drums filter in from a lowpass at around 1:05 and build up to a nice smooth chilled drop. Sounds good, interested to see how it ends up. I'd like to hear it go into something similar to namida by reso, check it out! Depends how you wana take it though :)

@ElementalTJ: You should vary the big lead bass a bit more, its a bit overpowering used too much. Automate the filtering on it a bit or something to add a change. at about .17 the wobbles get a bit muddled and its too crowded. Should try and get a bit more seperation and space to make the different elements stand out more.

My WIP, not really dubstep, more chilled/future garagey. Anything that needs changing so far? where do you think i should take the track next? cheers

@dmisreal - try to put some reverb on the snare, and turn down the volume on the middle range

@Sunshaft - love the YAY voices! what synth did you use?

@Tiger Blood - nice! remind me Rusko

Well, here's something i'm working on, it's a few note's, but i will likely want to get a comments about the mastering and the sounds, thanks!

This is something i could listen to again, i think there's a really good pattern going, and that bass is sounding great, i like the growl. goodjob

edit: @Tiger Blood
what about adding a bit more bass behind it, i think upping the level a bit without changing much else on the trak would give you a new perspective on it

I'm really confused now. Are we talking about the same track? The only "bass" on my tune is the sub, with a few bass stabs here and then. I assume you're referring to the stabs' panning? If you are, I would respectfully disagree with your sentiment - they're not a driving aspect of the track, whereas a tune that is driven almost entirely by the midrange, I would agree - it should be centered :) What do you mean in regards to levels? I thought you were talking about amplitude of the various channels. hehe
