I've been working on a ton of Dilla/Primo/9th Wonder style beats recently and this is my one stumbling block.
I want to take one note of a bassline and then play it from there.
So, do any of you lovely buggers know if or how I can slice and then chromatically map a sample in Ableton or FL similar or the same way you would with an MPC? Is there a way to do it with the FPC or Abletons slice to new midi function?

Re: MPC style chromatic mapping...
could always use recycle for your slicing and then load your rex file into something like NI battery?
if you dont fancy recycle theres always image lines zero x
having said that youll still have to pitch them manually
