Supported by the likes of 2562, Toronto native Knowing Looks made a joyous ripple into our world when his debut release for West Norwood Cassette Library dropped through the electronic mail. Admittedly the label’s taste and curative nous is something we repeatedly express a big love for but it was a warm thing to be approached with the opportunity to host their 2011 Christmas gift to the wider internet.
With a further single slated for release on the label in a couple of weeks (you can expect more on that shortly, like next week…) Knowing Looks has generously offered up a free download he’s calling ‘Never Gonna Get Charlie’ – an exclusive, super special, December timed VIP gift direct from his hard drive to yours. On it he culpably displays his knack of chopping up vocal mantras over superbly poised drum work, relying more on the organic sound of sampled drums than any kind of overplayed drum machine.
A great prelude to his forthcoming 10”, ‘Listen To My 45’ b/w ‘Ghost Baby’, out on the 12th December.
