beats - irrelevant. VSTs - I don't think it's been mentioned anywhere. I get the feeling he uses a piece of hardware for his main basslines, but that's just a feeling - no evidence at all.
160 bpm roller - for all the skankas.

i doubt its Reason.. hes either using hardware or a very analog sounding synth
the only type of synths you can make those nice basses are from VA synths.
there are free synths that capable of these kind of sounds (trust me) just look around & keep trying ;)

i read in some article that he eventualy started using logic. but that a few years back

His type of midrange basses can be achieved with something like albino plugin.

But his subs are huge. so either he uses sampled sine/triangle basses for the sub or his subbass comes from hardware. its hard to say how he does it exactly

His skank sounds are mainly detuned square/saw or distorted piano/organ and all with tape delay

a sine is a sine, why would it need to be sampled to be big?

Yeah he uses FL... the True Tiger guys use either Cubase or FL and alot of sampling (sub sines etc) and Massive (mainly).

i don't know what "VA synths" are, but i've gotten those same sounds out of albino without much trouble. if were talking like his tune "one spliff" for example it's probably just some squares and other shapes layered together and wobbled. you can do that with just about any synth. making it sound top notch quality is probably an issue of overall mix structure, eq, mastering etc.

I think I read 'back in the day' that he made the most of his bass/sub sounds from samples mainly. He might be working differently now though.

Sorry your're right pure sines are the same .i meant already altered/resampled sine or when you sample a sub(kick) yourself of an 808 or other hardware. chop off the beginning of the sample an create some nice looppoints in a sampler + limiter/compression ---> instant super sub.

ahh yeye i have done that before, it didnt seem as weighty as a pure sine sub, but it did have other qualities to it that i liked.
