Musics not great yet, whats the point in a soundcloud?

Post by VirtualMark » Mon Dec 12, 2011 11:35 pm

Yeah, was thinking, most people have a soundcloud account to show off their tunes, wip's etc. I've never bothered getting my tunes out there, as i've not been producing long and aren't happy with what i'm making.

Same goes with my name. Haven't chosen one yet as i don't see the point until my tunes reach a level i'm happy with.

So what do you guys think? Is it worth setting up a soundcloud account and getting my early tunes out there? Or just wait until i reach a level i'm happy with? Is it worth worrying about choosing a name yet?

Make a soundcloud when you want other people to hear your tunes. That is it. Don't just get them out there for the sake of it.

For me though, I have received a couple messages on my latest track saying that enjoy it etc and that for me has been the biggest perk since making music knowing that other people listen to my music and enjoy it.
Abstrakt.

Come check out my fothermucking soundcoud:

Something TOTALLY different. Really enjoyed this badboy and the melodies.

u could just make one to listen follow and support other people, then when you do post tunes you'll already have something of a network.
and if you're lucky enough to have friends/family who care about what you spend your time on, they might like to hear them even if they arent that good, or you don't think they are anyways

also just food for thought.. sometimes u make a tune that you're sure is the illest shit you ever wrote, and no one really feels it. then you have one that you think is the biggest piece of shit and people go mental for it
theres no explaining that but it does happen from time to time

this. The tunes I make that I love, people dont really enjoy. then I'll make soemthing that sounds like utter shit to me and people love it.

I purely use soundcloud as an easy way of posting wips in the wips thread. Other than that It's a great way for me to upload my tunes, for me. So I can listen to the list from bottom to top and have a date listing to see how I'm getting better as I listen up through my stuff. It helps put things into perspective for me.

Honestly, i think it is worth it having a sound cloud. i like to be able to have all my finished tracks in one spot even if they are bad!

however, i hate people who give themselves retarted names 2 days after they start making music.

i just use my real name :) and i use soundcloud to get feedback and have all my tunes in one spot all sexy n nice

It's definitely a good idea to have a Soundcloud if you want one. I found, when I was just starting out, that it was a great motivator to get better. I could easily go back through my old tunes and see how much I was improving with each one. Also, it's always nice when you go on to check and see nice comments on your songs. It's definitely a big perk for making music.
Fairly new to the producing realm. Only been going about a year and a half.

You should make one, people will appreciate that you have just started or been doing it for so many months. People will also be able to see how much you have progressed etc, and you will start to build a name for yourself and gain a following. Its pointless releasing some good tunes and having no one listen to them.
Any feedback on my songs will be returned

I average maybe 2/3 tunes a week that I'd consider finished product. My Soundcloud has got 2 tunes on it total (+ a mini DJ mix set). Honestly, it doesn't bother me. If I didn't have a Soundcloud account, it's not like I would suddenly stop making music. Nor would I start releasing more tunes if I could more comments than I do now.

It's whatever you're comfortable with. If you're worrying about what other people think rather than focussing on improving the standards of your production, honestly you're probably in this for the wrong reasons.

Just recently I have decided to start uploading everything to Sound Cloud. I might think something sounds great and never upload it and save it for later but its not really helping me learn. If I upload it and put it out to the public it allows constructive criticism which at the end of the day is going to help me improve. You may have to put up with some trolls but it's easy enough to just ignore them and focus on the constructive comments.

Basically what wub said I guess :P ^_^

iv been producing a long time (8 years) and theres just too many songs i dont bother showing any1.
it is still worth showing your music because although u might not like some of your songs other people will.
i should really tell myself this more lol but i will overcome hiding my music and such some day
im a really big perfectionist i guess.
