18y/o Dubstep/DnB/Glitch-Hop producer from UK

Post by RayguN » Tue Dec 13, 2011 1:15 am

Hi there.

My name's Chuckie, however I go under the alias RayguN (formerly Kindred_Spirit).

I've been making electronica for in excess of four years now, since the age of 14.

I have 2 diplomas in music production and am currently studying a BA in the field.

I make Dubstep, Glitch-Hop and Dnb - roughly.

I'd love to get some feedback on a recent Drumstep remix I did of Geto Boys "Still".

You can listen to the track in my sig or click here: www.soundcloud.com/RaygunDJ/Still

Please let me know what you think, comment etc. :-)

Thanks,

~ RayguN (Kindred_Spirit).

Oh also - FIRST POST! :D

Was it really necessary to post your age in the subject, not to be rude but I dont think it makes a difference how old you are. Also you will receive more plays if you use the soundcloud button when posting so it puts a player right in your post so we dont have to open up a new window and all that jazz (we're lazy). Welcome to the forums.

Yeah in hindsight it doesn't really seem necessary, a bit late now though eh. Steering the focus back toward music, I would like to know what you thought of my track. - I did try to embed it, but it says it's currently not available (?).

EDIT: Fixed :)

I learned the ins & outs of digital synthesis on Massive, however have reverted to native Logic synths (ES2, ES M, ES P etc). I actually don't use Massive at all anymore - I don't feel that what synth I'm using is overly important!

Well there's no doubting that Massive is a quality piece of kit & a phat synth. And yeah the training wheels thing, there is pretty much a tutorial for whatever sound on Massive. I just feel like my music doesn't require me to use that specific plug-in. :P

2DAY, I completed the diplomas from 16-18 (each taking a year), but I was unsatisfied with the level of knowledge I had at the end (I wanted to learn more about acoustics, mastering, live recording etc). My college just recently built a studio with a Duality SE console so I chose to continue production as my BA. I may possibly take it to MA if it means I'm still learning.

DJ Crackle, cheers fella - I'm glad you like it. :)

The forum isn't so fast moving that you need to bump 5+ times in a day, especially if the thread is moving fairly quickly. This isn't 4chan.

btw the track is big. It's not the style I'm really into atm, but big up, solid track.
