Slime returns with our final release of the year from London producer Tricky Strutt. This incredible debut deftly blends old and new ingredients with delicious results - mixing a little bump of chicago house, a tweak of acid, and a pinch of garage with a light dusting of R&B vibes. This is a sultry, sensual concoction that will inflame passions on dancefloors across the globe.
'Traits' comes correct from the get go with a massive retro house swing, descending chords shuffling around a whispered male vocal. This track has more bottom end than Nigella Lawson on a daytrip to a chocolate factory - reminiscent of the golden era of jacking house it could be an unearthed gem from the Trax archives as much as a brand new jam, such is the timeless nature of it's groove.
'Bedroom Antics' twists up the tempo with a ghostly melody lifted straight from the rave, then rolls it over a bubbling house rhythm. Vocoder licks and skittering garage percussion bring the funk in a big way, before a smooth female vocal drops some sweet soul science on proceedings. Perfect for late night horizontals everywhere.
'There's Bats Everywhere' has a swagger all of it's own - with a sinister bassline over a thumping house beat and vocal cut-ups riding the rhythm tight. Slowly the track explodes into a sensual female vocal melody, minimal-style percussion popping underneath for a truly jacktastic experience. Pure intensity squeezed out of every bar, this is a narcotic ride to the darkside.
'Hey Boo' brings some old skool garage vibes into the mix with a modulated bassline and R&B vocal licks keeping things toasty on the top whilst the huge house swing underneath pins your feet to the floor. A slow climax of ethereal rave chords sprial up your spinal column before some twisted strings take the roof off. All your raw jacking power requirements in one tasty little track.
