Re: Best club in London?
corsica is good, friendly people to help you put on a night, but it's expensive to hire and you'll do well to break even at the start - would recommend starting out at a smaller club to build a following first. props though, keep us posted

Re: Best club in London?
sound system is pretty important ... i would have taken plastic people with the old sound system over corsica, but now i'd take corsica over plastic people ... they are trying to do different things, though - simple direct layout vs winding corridors etc.
hidden is lovely, too. and gets a prize for the only set that i've walked out of (despite liking it) because it was too loud: limewax.

Re: Best club in London?
I really should find a good time to go to corsica.
Only managed to get to Fabric, Cable and Ewer street car par or warehouse or whatever the fuck its called. I love that place the most but its not a club but a venue. If I could find a place as loud and intense as that I think id never leave
Ive just seen the 16th at corsica a date I cant make. I Hate my life

Completely forgot about cable. Thats a quality club! Only been to hidden once but reaching Trix on the 16th which really cannot disappoint with a line up that good!
Would be interested to hear how it all goes mate!

Completely agree about Cable feeling tacky, never felt right in there to me for some reason, similar to XOYO.
Cant wait to get to Corsica on friday, heard good things about from many people before reading this thread and now I'm even more hyped.
I've had some great nights at Rhythm Factory love its grimeyness, Area sucks imo, Hidden is good.
Best club is between Fabric and PP for me with an honarable mention to Coronet for the 2 sick outlook raves i went to in there

Re: Best club in London?
I love Gramaphone but I heard it closed down.
Rhythm Factory is alright(ish).
Hidden is probably my favourite club after playing/going there the other week.
Cafe1001 is a nice little place, Brixton Jamm deserves some props too.
I hear Nest is fairly decent aswell.
I hate Cable with a passion; ive played there 5 times now and vowed to never again - room 1s system always crackled during peak times; in room 2 everyone just sits upstairs and mongs out despite it having a bangin' system, smoking area is chock-a-block. It has expensive drinks but doesn't even feel justified (unlike Hidden, I quite happily will pay 4.50 for a can there) Its a awful club.
Its a shame, as its so easy to get to from my house haha

last few times i have been to Cable the main room system has been sounding heavy especially at the last get darker!!
Also the atmosphere in cable has always been top notch when i've been!!
Hidden i'm not as keen on! Black room is nice to rave in and to mix in!
Blue room always seemed a bit quiet
an red room is horrible to mix in and horrible to rave in
All down to personal preference though!
Also depends a lot on who is the sound engineer!
If it was up to me an i could have either cable or hidden it would be cable no question!
Only plus for Hidden is the smoking area an as i don't smoke that doesn't effect me
Re: Best club in London?
yeh gramaphone closed down, shame, i went there to see VIVEK play to 25 people in march and loved everything about the place, plus it was just around the corner from where i'm living now. haven't found a spot like it sincelegend4ry wrote:I love Gramaphone but I heard it closed down.

+1 to disliking cable, swamp81 night was sick there but have been back 3 times since and each time came away saying not for me. hate the layout of that weird bar-dance-gurn area, feel like it always is a disservice to the quality djs playing there.
Re: Best club in London?
I doubt that. Theres plenty demand just up the road in Readingincnic wrote:there is no demand for the 'US' brostep sound in London afaik.

Re: Best club in London?
Hidden is awesome, went there for the Found:Heritage UK Garage night, easily one of the best night's ive ever been to
Cable is really cool too, I like the atmosphere
Fabric is fucking overrated
Plastic People is really nice and all that, but the soundsystem the last time i went was just ridiculous, as in stupidly quiet, could hold a conversation without screaming it eachothers ears quite well, right at the front.
I'm yet to go to Corsica or Rhythm Factory but I hear good things.

Re: Best club in London?
Corsica seemed good - very solid system, decent venue.
I don't really get the hype with Plastic People apart from the fact that FWD happens there. The system used to sound very nice and clear, but it seldom felt weighty the same way that some do. If it's quieter now then it doesn't really sound worth it...
The only night I've been to at the Rhythm Factory is Technicality, which is a fairly well heeled and grownup jungle / dnb night, but it never seemed that dodgy. So I guess the night has a lot to do with it.

Re: Best club in London?
I like Hidden a lot, Cable is OK at best, really dont like fabric at all, too big, bright and corporate for my tastes, it feels like "my first rave" or something... i like grotty little dives with stupid soundsystems

This might be why you havnt been laid in so long. Fabric, Oceana, After dark are perfect if you're after girlsparticle-jim wrote:I like Hidden a lot, Cable is OK at best, really dont like fabric at all, too big, bright and corporate for my tastes, it feels like "my first rave" or something... i like grotty little dives with stupid soundsystems

anyways, It's nothing to do with where i go clubbing, it's more on account of my appauling lack of social skills

Re: Best club in London?
Coming from a Dj perspective, i'd have to say Corsica or hidden, both clubs are amazing, a joy to play on and the soundsystems are weighty.
Re: Best club in London?
I went to a get darker party there before, it was pretty cool. Dark and loud is all I require from a club though so I'm generally easily pleased.LA_Boxers wrote:Anybody been East Village before? Heading there Saturday night.
