Re: JFK's giving up weed thread. Stories and encouragement p
Ive been smoking near enough daily for the best part of 5 years. I want to stop but at the same time i do really enjoy doing it. Thing is when i smoke it sometimes i get anxiety and also sometimes get quite paranoid about my heart, which i really dont enjoy. I really wanna cut down and do it like 2 or 3 times a week but all of my mates do it daily too and aren't particularly inclined to cut down like me and i find it quite difficult to sit there completely sober whilst all of my mates are burnin some uber smelly cheese or whatever. I think in my case like many others its more the 'routine' and the comfort of going to work everyday knowing that you can come home and smoke a big fat J with your mates that makes it so difficult for me to quit altogether.
Good on you though mate, youve taken a step that alot of us would really struggle to take.

You need to really want it, like really really want to quit first, then break the habits and associations you have with smoking it.
It's all mental
The first week can be hard - waking up in cold sweats, lots of weird dreams, but after you break the routine (replace it with something else) it's smooth sailing.
Good luck

Chicken mayo was my one major vice must have put on about a stone in just over 6 months, started bunning again and lost it all within a few months. I didn't find giving up overly difficult but I was never really a everyday smoker, prefer to keep it as a social drug really.vertx wrote:You need to really want it, like really really want to quit first, then break the habits and associations you have with smoking it.

It's about dropping a track at the wrong speed, and it sounding better than the real thing.

getting a good job will help you quit. especially the fear of being drug tested lol.
I think most people get addicted to weed because they have no purpose in life, they really have nothing better to do with their time. Like they said on south park, "it just makes you OK with being bored." The addiction is part of your personality. Quitting weed alone most likely isn't going to change you enough. You're gonna need to fill the void you've been filling with smoke with something meaningful to you.

I hadn't been smoking as long as you but proper on it for 3-4 years, every day - at least a quart a day for large periods of that; I just .. quit I woke up one morning and sparked the preroll I put in the sealed tin I rolled that night for the morning, the smell made me feel physically sick - i got a dirty headache and blurry eyes and I get that whenever I am around it these days so my reasons for quitting are a bit different but the benefits are the same.
The main big ones are...
Less paranoid moments.
More disposable cash.
Being able to control eating habits better.
Finding ways to distract yourself; jogging, going for walks, making more music, reading some books.
MORE ATTENTION SPAN! (this ones amazingly important).
My music has never been more better since quitting either.
After a few days where you take in a big deep breath of fresh air in the morning and it actually goes in your lungs and feels clean is probably the first thing to make you not want to smoke ever again. you'll feel amazing!
I'm sorry all you avvid smokers out there but if you're from England and you haven't got a crop where you know WHAT is happening with it; you're better off quitting and finding other ways to enjoy yourself; most street gear does more harm than good.

I've only ever had weed once. It was ok.
I have always thought it wasn't addictive though? I'm sure someone told me it wasn't?!

Not physically addictive, as in, you won't get stomach cramps or seizures from quitting much like alcohol.mrdii wrote:I've only ever had weed once. It was ok.

Haven't smoked pot in 3 days now after a 6 year, everyday habit. Thought I was gonna die the last time I quit, until I realised that I was smoking really fat bongs with a 50/50 tobacco mix.. What I was addicted to was the cigs and the act of smoking bongs. Went through horrible tobacco withdrawl.. When I stopped 3 days ago, after having not smoked cigs for 6 months, I found it much easier and relatively fine. Trick is to get out the house, go watch a film at the cinema, go work at a charity or something for a few days. I also suggest getting a couple days worth of sleeping pills because I've found that its reeeally hard to nod off after years of smoking yourself to sleep. Goodluck man, it gets easier everyday and you feel better!
Re: JFK's giving up weed thread. Stories and encouragement p
All the best with stopping, I think i'm going to do the same, i've smoked less regularly recently but i'd much rather spend a tenner on records than picking up a tens. The novelty of it wore off a long time ago and when i'm blazed now it's not even that enjoyable.

Thanks for the ongoing support guys
Im feeling geeat about quitting at the moment. Ive finished three tunes in three days that Im actually happy with!
What Im starting to get now is a sense of anger, aimed soley at myself, that I have wasted so much time, money and grey matter on smoking weed over the past decade....... I think that might be a side effect of the withdrawl though so Im going to put it to the back of my mind for now and press on.
Thanks again everyone!

quitting weed is a good thing man
i hated who i became when i was smoking
you wont be tired as fuck anymore
you wont be paranoid as fuck anymore
you wont be a dick anymore
at lesat thats what happened to me
got bit out of hand i woudl say/
tell all your friedns you are quitting
so they know not to ask you to smoke
and so you wont break easily because you made the commitment
find other activities to do(go to the gym, play handball, golf, bang girls, pool, cocaine, heroine, movies, video games, drugs, alcohol, meth, etc
yoll be fine

I quit one day. Full on stopped for about six months. Now I just do it socially. At events etc
And how will you inquire into a thing when you are wholly ignorant of what it is? Even if you happen to bump right into it, how will you know it is the thing you didn't know?
