What cables do I need?

Hi,

I'm just getting into mixing, and so far I've got the following equipment:

Numark DM2050 Mixer
2 x KRK Rokit 6 RPG2 Active Monitors
V-Moda Headphones

I can't afford turntables until the new year, so for now im looking into hooking these up to my laptop.

What cables would I need to hook this all together?

You could get sound running with just a Y stereo cable

You'll need more than that to mix though..

Cheers man, is that for connecting the speakers to the mixer?

Yeah I know I can't mix with what I've got, I just wanna be able to play some tunes from my laptop out of the monitors while I'm waiting for decks!

Actually is that cable for going direct from laptop to monitors? I didn't think you could do that? I thought it had to pass through the mixer.

You could run that from the lappy straight to the speakers if you really wanted..not the best idea though

If you grab two rca to xlr or rca to trs as well then run them from them mixer to the speakers and use the Y cable to go from the lappy to the mixer.
