No one ever seems to mention James Blake's debut, is it not really considered 'dubstep' enough for this kind of list? Or is it just not very popular...

I mentioned it, as I did the Jamie Woon album (in a previous post because yes, this is a repost) as well as in my blog. If that's any relief.

I've been going through a lot of the albums in this thread and so far glass swords blows everything else away.

Bought this in April and still haven't made up my mind about it.

Edit: Just listened again. Not bad at all for pop ;-)

Kromestar's Colourful Vibrations hasn't been getting nearly enough love, and as far as I'm concerned Phaeleh's The Cold In You is an album, especially if we consider the two DMZ LPs to be albums

You're quite right... I did a big review of it in Word mag, and have listened to it LOADS this year.

Agree Tes La Rok too, well underrated album...

can't say i agree with you about the sully album, joe. to me, it was such a proper album! The beginning is the past, the middle is the present and the end is the future, beatwise.....

I enjoyed Sully's LP but I agree it doesn't feel like an album. I appreciate it as pieces of music covering different sounds quite well but it just doesn't feel cohesive. On the subject of Keysound, I really failed to see what a lot of reviews saw in Damu's LP (especially Fact). It did literally nothing for me :?

Rustie is hands down the one for me. I like it for the exact reason I wasn't too keen on Sully's. It's not cohesive, but it is just banger after banger, insane go-fucking-mental music that no one can do better. Fingers crossed Hud Mo drops an LP this year :4:

Clams Casino was of course very good, I only put it on when I can't think of anything else to put on so it suits that sort of "can't be arsed" mind state I get in when I feel I've exhausted my music library.

Weeknd was my best discovery by far in 2011, HoB and EoS are sick. Thursday was pretty lacking but combine this with Clams Casino and a large proportion of music that got plenty of play from me was entirely free.

Kuedo's Severant didn't do much for me either. I felt it went on for a bit too long considering how little sounds were covered. It did a great job at creating and maintaining an aesthetic (it'd make for a great dystopian sci-fi film soundtrack) but it just went on for too long.

Kode 9's LP was decent, again consistent aesthetic and the album run time was spot on. He is a master of bass manipulation and the album more or less delivered on what I expected.

The sound of dubstep 3 was the worst by far.
