Re: Finished Tunes For Feedback - Nov/Dec 2011
@SideSix: I really appreciate your feedback and I completely agree with what you said about the kick drum, definitely needs to cut through the mix more. However, I really have no idea how to make that happen aside from just....turning the volume up...I told you, I'm a real beginner.
About your tune though. Man, I really enjoyed this one. Nice minimalistic dungeon vibes. Really feeling the snare/rim hit, nice high pitched, cuts through perfectly. Also really enjoyed the complex drum patterns, does wonders for the tune. My only thing I noticed that wasn't spectacular was some of the random noises placed throughout the song kind of sound muddy or....ehh, I don't know the exact word to describe it. I feel that some of the noises sound either not clear enough, or some of them sound tinny/metallic. Some of the little sound bits are just right though. I know I explained that horribly, I'm sorry. Other than that, this track is golden. Dark vibes, feeling.

cant sleep so i thought id have a go on this thread havent been in one of these for ages
@Cronbreadddddddddddddddddd
Nice ideas fella, the drums are good, sound pretty clear to me and theres a lot going on over the top, the melodies and such from the percussion is very good like, as are the pads, i think the main ones which kind of go Bah Bah could do with a bit of automation on them or something and the hi hats could do with some changing around as the constant pattern gets a weeee bit tiresome. Also use some panning, itll help your mix loads as well as providing moments of incident to keep people interesteted, have some of the bits which fly in panned hard left and moving around. I take it there is sub in there from the wavelength, but its either very quiet or too low for me headphones to pick up, which would be pretty low, so beef it up a bit.
Good tune thoguh fella, though i still hate you and hope you die btw
@sidesix-defo creates an atmosphere that is sure but yeah the mix is really rather muddy and the percussion is so kind of trippy it all sounds a bit random, especially woth all the other noises floating around it sounds more like a sound collage rather than a tune, i'd turn your actual drums up and turn all the res of the stuff, as well as turning your bass up as well (sub), or cutting a hole in the atmosphere for them to sit better as their getting lost within the mix.
Interesting ideas for sure, especially like the violiny sounds and the breakdown afterwards, about 2:30ish, with a better mix this could be well noice
@lordbid- still making filthy tunes i see lol, mixdown sounds good to me, i dunno really though about this kind of thing...
@darj- sick sick sick sick
@wearecorsairs-reminds me of the music for some game off of the nintendo or something, needs more sub bass in there and the mid pads are often overpowering, though only in certain parts (such as 1:31 where it goes berghhh). Mix could definitely be cleaner overall though it doesnt sound far off well done, as for the music side of it, its all a bit disorientating, rather prog for me like if rick wakeman made electro house, not really any structure, very fiddly
@sonika- the sub is too quiet, and there is not enough going on in the soong until 1:50 odd, the hats which come in after then are good, but its a loooong wait till the snare comes in of not very much happening, and then... it all goes very odd- usually the breakdown has something to do with the rest of the song. Anyway- more suggestions: Find a better snare, take the treble off the hi hats, maybe get rid of the piano/violin bit and save it for another song? Bring the sub up an octave and take the eq so harshly off it, so it is the centrepiece of the tune, as with it all the way down there in the lower depths of the mix it all sounds very empty. Also get some paning and incidental thingies in there to fill it up too.
this ones the last one ive finished, hope u like

@ sagal- dude that intro is so nasty and the drop sounds like a robots head being stomped in. i love it!
@benthedrummer- i really really like the bassline you got, whatever synth program your using you have def mastered it. good job man
@roscoemg- i love the glitchy vibe your tune has. makes me wanna work on a glitch tune next.
heres my newest tune. ive only been attempting to make music for a couple months now and have had zero help from anyone so all constructive criticism is wanted and appreciated
