Want to move it off this "hate on those for hating the eyez vip release" we never said we hated it, we just wondered why it was released, go make a thread and hate in there!

which ones?kayzee wrote:No one's denying that Coki is a fucking don, and so, so important to the scene.wolf89 wrote:Coki and Mala are killing it as always. Don't want them changing their styles. Anyone saying Coki is too brostep is frankly a fucking idiot as far as I'm concerned.
But there are a couple of tracks that could have been posted up with someone saying this is a new Doc P/Flux track and I bet a lot of people would have believed it...

Re: The future of DMZ?
loefah run out of steam? the man (with others) pioneered dubstep and was probably the single biggest contributor to the half time we hear today. now his support and influence has blown up a movement which is dominating sets and discourse round here. i can't wait to see what he does next!xlyr wrote:Loefah's pretty much run out of steam, but he's got some old dubs he should release. Mala's still on it it seems. I feel like DMZ is gonna run out of stuff to release since a lot of what's being made by that crew should stay dubplates
also, saying that loefah should release his old dubs, then saying in the next breath that DMZ will run out of releasable material because their productions should stay dubs doesn't register with me...
finally, i'm not a fan of coki's newer tearout/aggressive/whatever sound. i'd love to hear more like officer, but hell, i doubt he gives a fuck what i think !

edit: mala can do no wrong! i don't think there's a mala production i dislike anywhere

I've never heard a Coki tune that sounds like that. In fact I'm inclined to say that you're probably being a massive idiot here, kayzee wrote:No one's denying that Coki is a fucking don, and so, so important to the scene.wolf89 wrote:Coki and Mala are killing it as always. I think we'd all do well to stop worrying about the future of dubstep/DMZ and to just get on with it.
Mala/DMZ/Medi have got more than enough money/talent/exposure to proceed in which ever way they want.
Why not spend time supporting and pointlessly worrying about the smaller artists, labels and nights who actually need your money and support?

it's gonna be the same as it always was. they're gonna keep making the same sort of thing because people love it. they're not gonna go techno/funky or whatever, they're just not. i really dont think mala is gonna decide that he needs to move things forward since his two labels are probably the biggest in dubstep. just thought i'd throw this in there because i think this discussion is just ridiculous

yeah that's fair! But after hearing that changes remix it does actually interest me where DMZ could bring their stuff.scattybeanhead wrote:it's gonna be the same as it always was. they're gonna keep making the same sort of thing because people love it. they're not gonna go techno/funky or whatever, they're just not. i really dont think mala is gonna decide that he needs to move things forward since his two labels are probably the biggest in dubstep. just thought i'd throw this in there because i think this discussion is just ridiculous
Some people are being far to aggy about his subject, i was never worrying about DMZ just wanted to get some opinions from people that with similar views!
I would love to hear a Mala tune like "Stand Against War" in a different genre'y format!
Loefah hasn't run out of steam completely though he still plays out his 140 and it still goes off! But from experience I guess it's 3/4 swamp set (ukfunky/futuregarage/etc) and 1/4 140. Anyone else have this experience?
No one has commented on Youngsta as of yet? Where do you think he'll go? What are his shows like nowadays? Is it still "deep dark and dangerous"
a bit off topic but
Also for those who are upping Coki on his recent stuff,
Soundcloud
Soundcloud
First one is Coki and Circus crew, second is Coki and Mt Eden. BIG UP!
i'm kidding i'm kidding!
Yeah that's the awful stuff, what went wrong there I don't know! Bizarre!
But still his originals are timeless so yeah!
Re: The future of DMZ?
well if it makes you feel any better, he was taking the piss with the macca one. and the second one isn't all that bad

Re: The future of DMZ?
Yunx has been playing a lot more percussive stuff recently, like some of the massive killawatt dubs and that Kryptic Minds bit.
It's gonna be interesting to see where he takes it in 2012, I don't think he's gonna revolutionise anything but just keep on refining his sound and do what he does best. He switches it up regularly to be fair, you never really know what to expect from him.
As for DMZ and such, I don't see Mala being interested in trying to push things in another direction right now, he seems to genuinely love what he's doing at the moment, both touring, producing and running the label(s).. And let's face it, we all love him for it too
That said, if Mala decides to try something new I'm gonna be all ears.

Re: The future of DMZ?
Mystic Vocation is massive indeed. And even more of a big deal did you ever think you'd see one of Headhunter's tracks as Addison Groove in a Yunx tracklist (Starluck)? It is almost a hybrid of his two styles though, can't wait for its release. I think the artist I miss most from his sets these days is Benny G. Those bits always switched up the style a bit when they came on, especially Pan Pipes.Reese Liar wrote:Yunx has been playing a lot more percussive stuff recently, like some of the massive killawatt dubs and that Kryptic Minds bit. .
I think he'll keep dungeon in there in 2012 but it'll drop to being maybe 50-75% of his sets rather than the 90% it was in 2011 which can only be a good thing.

"D&B is dead"
that gets said every year? This reminds me of that.
Coki is a badman, and DMZ is on point as per.

Re: The future of DMZ?
This thread has never been about whether DMZ will survive or not, of course they fucking will. And so will Mala, Coki, Loefah, Deep Medi, Swamp81 etc etc.
The OP was just wondering what direction they will all be heading in. A question we obviously can't answer because we can't predict the future.

Re: The future of DMZ?
There was a time where a lot of us would be at mass by 10pm every first Saturday of every other month with out fail.
I haven't been since the 6th birtday bash, thats the difference to me, thats not a criticism, thats just where we are at at the moment. I do miss it though

Re: The future of DMZ?
mate believe it or not thats your answer right there.Stuuka wrote:Do they know that the scene is moving? That they need to sell these to make some good profit? (I'm not sure about that, but could be answer).
Of course they know the scene is moving forward, they've witnessed musical progression happen to their own music scenes.
They saw the rise and fall of jungle, uk garage to its off-shots counterparts etc.
They know that sooner or later if theses dubplates don't get a release those pieces of music will never see the light of day again.
I can only imagine that yes they're delighted with the slight-profit that they can bring in but i also like to think its the reception that these classic tunes still get today and the love for music pieces on producers and audiences half.
word has it aswell, Loefah deleted all of old historical dubplates off
And as for the sound on Mala side, Deep Medi is only growing in strength, xmas shank had serious vibes.
still unknown as for where Coki's production will end, not really a far of his new release.
