Re: trance clubs in london?
never was into it, never knew anyone who was into it. but at university there were a lot of international students from the middle east and surrounding area who listened to trance and nothing else. should of asked why it was so popular there, but it never crossed my mind lol.

Fun Fact: An ex of mine cheated on me with the guy that runs The Gallery. It's like getting your head kicked in by a bloke wearing rubbish shoes.wub wrote:Trance wise, Ministry Of Sound for The Gallery on Fridays is pretty much ground zero for a regular big trance party.

No, some dude that was Tall Paul's 'right hand man' when it was still at Turnmills. I think he was one of the resident DJs too (probably still is)... not exactly my area of expertise.wub wrote:magma wrote:Fun Fact: An ex of mine cheated on me with the guy that runs The Gallery. He was fat, a bit ugly, posh, wore a family signet ring on his little finger and liked Trance music because he could make money from it. The only time I ever met him he complained that I was playing "overly pretentious music" (Squarepusher) and said it wasn't as good as the Armin van Buuren he'd just got.
Then he managed to fuck the girl I was in the middle of trying to save a relationship with.
I'm not bitter about it or anything, as you can tell.

Don't mind some of Corsten's early stuff...his Solar Serenades album was the first mix CD I ever bought, I think.

It was all killed by Robert Miles - Children (Dream Version). Popularised the fluffy, supersaw shit and trance never recovered. Then anyone making it/DJing who was any good started claiming they were melodic techno/progressive house instead.

Re: trance clubs in london?
progressive house is even worse than trance
Re: trance clubs in london?
Prog house turned shit as well for the most part but it definitely had a good period when the likes of Underworld, The Light and Leftfield were making it. Northern Exposure would still be my favourite DJ mix though I guess you can't limit that to prog house.

Ferry Corsten is a nice guy. Not a fan of any of em either, although Tiesto also play some good stuff these days.leyenda303 wrote:FixedElectric_Head wrote:I hate Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten and any other dutch superstar DJs you can think of
