the best part in these discussions is when you realize it comes down to a few dudes protecting a box full of hard drives, that eventually fail. what happens then, when you have a metal paperweight and screws?

Another point worth considering is NO ONE OWNS MUSIC, IT BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE.

someone tell me that one of you knows how much it costs right now to get two tunes on a 12" vinyl from the CDR>mastering>metalwork>pressing>artwork>distro stages, on towards sale in a store?

It is expensive to press vinyl to distribute and sell in the shops, but when it happens, I'm, buying it, without thinking twice, because that's what a DJ does, The cost of pressing vinyl is what has kept me from getting a few 12" projects off the ground. it's all the other tunes that are otherwise unavailable, that I'm glad I can still play out if I choose to. Once a tune is out there, it's free for everyone to do whatever they want with it, that means sample it and share it, and no one has any control over what may come out of the tune from that point forward.
To me the saddest part is the decline of vinyl in the clubs these days, all that digital bit crushed distortion will never replace the sweet bassweight of vinyl.
I think it costs around $2K to press 500 Dubs, IDK, correct me if I'm mistaken.

to be fair it's just having the balls and the capability to do a vinyl run, i'd just use my own money to fund itSoiree wrote:It is expensive to press vinyl to distribute and sell in the shops, but when it happens, I'm, buying it, without thinking twice, because that's what a DJ does, The cost of pressing vinyl is what has kept me from getting a few 12" projects off the ground. it's all the other tunes that are otherwise unavailable, that I'm glad I can still play out if I choose to.
