day dreaming - nice. i reckon theres room for a cheeky little electric piano melody or something. production sounds tight so far. definitely interested in the finished track.

@DJRaynes got a couple of ideas in there that could be deep. definitely needs sub bass. also i'd find a better snare sample

@naroja lana del rey remix - really wanna know what you're thinking of doing with it. drop keep it chilled or what??? sounds sick for now.

orchrender dub - haven't got a clue what to call it but its fuckin cool. i wouldn't even do anything to it. just keep it for jokes. haha i like it

Crow Steppa: Digging the tune man! Those vocal samples are boss! Maybe make the drums more punchy if anything and bring out the kick / snare a bit more / add some hi hats? Play around with some drum loops until you find something good!

Eat Bass: Digging the bass parts, can't really comment on the rapping as I'm not a fan of that, but everything else sounding tight!

Here's a little somit I've been working on and remade about 50 times, but I'm content with it now (I think, but need opinions) hoping to do some work on the drop this week!

Thank you all so much! And yeah, I find EQing in reason a bit hard. Everything sounds very fuzzy. I also find it hard to determine which frequencies I want cut out and which I don't. I'll try your method Eat Bass!

yeah man, like i said just boost with a narrow q range and find the worst sounding freq and cut it out.

also for frequency splitting i have a combinator originally created by futures untold if you would like it. shoot me a pm if your interested and ill either upload it or find the original thread from futures.

edit: btw naroja - are you talking about sampling things to create basses out of? if so mind sharing your method of doing so? i've always been curious about making basses out of sounds or even recording myself going like "yeowwwwww" and making it into a bass but I'm not really sure on how to do it.

Yeah man, sure!

My process is fairly simple, but works great! (just tested it last night, and got a gnarled twisted sound)
Grab your sample (I used some water sample I recorded the other day) - Then drop it into a sampler. Make sure you set your loop very small, then run your start time through it to find nice points. (just like the mentioned method on the 'bassline movement' thread). Definitely play around with loop time, you want it small enough for it to sound like a Synth, but not too small where it sounds like a pure tone. The bigger the loop, the more movement & juicyness. (Which reminds me... try recording ground meat ) .....

Anyways, back to the point, while you're scrolling through the waveform with your small loop, start adding effects that sound great on the whole thing. Add things like Lowpass filters, distortion, maybe some light phasing. Once it sounds right then bounce it down into another track and then throw that into another sampler, do this a few times untill you have an arsenal of leads you can play with. If the sample doesn't have an oscillation effect yet, add a lp12 or lp24 filter to it and sync it to the beat. It'll sound good. Just make sure you get your absolute base sample to be loud and textured enough (lots of amplitude and lots of tonality change in the sample)

I like the intro. Can't wait to hear what else you do with it. Love the bass sound on the drop but the drums need to come through more and the tops need distorting as its way too clean. LOVE the cuts into the other bass noises. I think the main bass sound needs a little distortion in the top end and maybe some detuning and decay. Almost too clean at times.

@Standby DUDE this is so smooth and funky, everything sits neatly together so far and the minimalistic vibe is amazing, I can't really say there isn't any errors as far as your mix is coming, the melody is so haunting but uplifting at the same time it creates 2 opposite vibes at once, love it. @ScarletCyanide this has an awesome start to something more wild, unless your going for a techy reverby type vibe? if I were you I'd make your bass a little more prominent and add some filters and variation?, Im pretty sure you already parallel compressed? Anways I like that scream before your planned drop lol, i suggest making your build up a bit cleaner and less reverb or delay on everything, sometimes the kick sounds odd too for some reason? Great intro and idea to progress from still

@Burgeamon Beautiful intro. I'd bump this on my system and iphone anyday! has very nice clean stereo imagery and mixing, the vocals are AMAZING, is this a remix or original? I'd love to hear the original as well, but this is pure beast, especially the drop, you are definitely on your way to very profressional labels unless you are already, I'm gonna follow you!

@Pyrez Bass is too much for me. A little treble outside the drums wouldn't be so bad. Sounds in the beginning could've been a bit more elaborate.

@Standby interesting. Quiet and peaceful. Very minimal. Repetitive but fun to listen to. Keep up the good work.

@ScarletCyanide Lack of bass in the beginning. Pretty boring and repetitive. It all blends in kind of mush-ily. Try to put some quiet spots and tonals to blend in.

@Burgeamon Repetitive wobbles. The different sounds seem pretty alike. I like the pad work. Work on the drop.

@teejayem the supersaw lead is pretty annoying to listen to. Warm it up. Too much detune. Fatten it up. Too simple, try making it more complex Like the minimal drum work though.

Okay, now its my turn. I have really shitty headphones, so comments appreciated when there is a lack of bass/treble, and other negative things. I spent 6 days on this song; but had a bunch of other stuff to do. I made everything except for the acapella and a bit of sample. Its aimed to be neurofunk.

I finally made some progress in my first (i suppose you could call it attempt) dubstep track. I don't have very much experience in the production area and so i need your feed back. This isn't the whole song, just the drums. It's my third attempt at doing the drums and don't hesitate to suggest things that i should add/discard/keep the same.

After sleeping on it I decided that I didn't like my bass much so decided to try a different idea. Not mixed at all and one of the sounds is a little too loud but would love some thoughts.

I've just started my own remix of this ha! Drumstep tho! I think the sound you at the beginning of the bars is a little too bright and happy for the neurofunk vibe but its sounding good. Needs a bit more grit tho.

I also felt the track was a little stuffed but that could be because you haven't mixed down yet which is understandable. also, since its drumstep, dont be afraid to slow some of the sounds down a bit as some of them felt a little... off i guess? still not bad though, keep at it and practice practice practice

@Gaol, Tune sounds like a bunch of tunes on top a drum loop, nothing really changes, there is no swing so it feels a little stiff. work on finding sounds that fit a little better together.

@Maza-some interesting sounds, but not something you can dance to. maybe thats what you want. drums dont sound good with the song, sound almost like metal kick and snares, maybe that was intended, idk. here is an update on mine.

@Crow Steppa - Really love the bassline that kicks in at 0:28. Still I am not a fan of the vocals, but keep up the good working, you're getting there!

@Burgeamon - Really nice drop. Would love the basslines to hit harder, think that would boost the track a notch. 0:30 sounds epic.

@Gaol - It's a pretty cool beat you got going there. Both drums and basslines needs a little work though. The basslines sounds a little messy and the drums are just not hitting hard enough. Try working on that and I think you'll be fine mate!

Here's my WIP. I am going for a pretty dark atmosphere kinda thingy while not keeping it too slow. But it definitely still needs some work.
