White labels are either:
1 - a pre-release or test pressing
2 - a bootleg
3 - a release with the cheapest label

You can't have a record pressed without a label and white ones are the cheapest option. Anything with a white label is usually limited in run, however does not mean it won't be repressed. The white label being known as a way to spot big DJs was through labels giving out test presses / pre-releases to the big name DJ's who originally championed new music and pushed new sounds to the public.

Bootlegs have been around a long time, starting with unauthorised recordings of concerts being put onto vinyl, through to bootlegs when tracks contained unauthorised samples stemming from the use of samplers in the late 80's. A lot of white labels today are used to keep costs down, I.e mala - eyes VIP.

Well we're a white label label that make a limited run of 50 white coloured white labels and then 250 normal white labels that are all limited and we don't repress. What Be-1ne said is correct, it is cheaper to manufacture white labels, but we offset that with doing extremely smal runs of coloured vinyl.

I would hazard a guess that when they placed their order that they ordered 50 colored (white) alongside the normal black ones.

^^^ Nail on the head.

Once the machine had finished the press on the 300 run, we put in some white polymer and cleared the machine as much as we could without too much wastage, then pressed 50. That's why some of the records might have some small black smudges on them.

Info about the label:http://whitepeachrecords.com

The white coloured vinyl for £5.99: http://www.whitepeachrecords.com/apps/w ... ow/2816323

Normal black for £3.99: http://www.whitepeachrecords.com/apps/w ... ow/2744680

It's in at Chemical and Redeye at the moment too, but the white coloured ones are only sold direct.

Our facebook where we give away free stuff and announce new stuff about releases! http://www.facebook.com/WhitePeachRecords

Big ups all.

Well that's the WPR001 12" release. ;-)

WPR002 is Grime, Uk Funky & Dubstep.

WPR003 is some Dub Dubstep with something similar for the flip etc etc

We don't want to announce names just yet. :)

Dubstep already has dub in its name because its dub influenced. Saying dubby sounding dubstep is kind of redundant. Not trying to be a dick just thought it was a funny term.

but not all dubstep sound like dub anymore does it ? If he just said that it's a dubstep tune it wouldn't be clear that it's a track that has a real dub/reggae feel to it
