I love when people say this. I feel that 99.9 percent of it is all placebo. I've taken plenty of MP3 vs Wav sound tests, and I have a very keen ear, played music all my life, very good at detecting subtleties and I've found that for me, there is no audible difference to my human ear. Now technically yes, there is a difference, but soundwise, there is absolutely none to me and anyone else I know who is a musician as well. Plus, do you really think people are going to notice in a noisy area...no, thats the last thing on their mind ..."OH WAIT HES USING A 320 AND NOT WAV I CAN TELL..." ..no, just cut a 320, the difference is all placebo.
so you didn't tell any difference between the SP:MC "Cool Runnings" MP3 and Wav, for instance? I sure did. Its not placebo, it's blatant.

Just been speaking to Boris at Dub Studio in Bristol (who ran the dubplate cutting demos at Outlook last year) and he said this:

"Hi Chris, yeah cutting a 320Mp3 is all good, as Henry will give it a looking at and do any adjusting if needed, the act of just cutting the material can help smooth out the Mp3eyness. so in answer to your question, yes cutting an MP3 is all good :-)"

Think I might give it a whirl with them on a 1-sided 10" and see what comes out and report my findings.

Haha, I know, sounds less than convincing doesn't it, but I've seen them work and talked to him in person at Outlook and he does know what he's on about and really cares about sound quality so I trust his judgment. Plus the mastering is done by Henry from The Heatwave, who's been doing this for a long time. A lot of people on here talk about the technical side about getting dubs cut etc etc but no one appears to want to put their money where their mouth is. I'm fucking skint but I'm gonna give it a whirl anyway. "He who dares..." and all that :)

Haha, yeah, there is that nagging thing in my head which says "you can pick up the new DMZ release and some of those garage represses from DNR for the same money. Still, I've wanted Alone Warrior on vinyl for time.
