I'm on a mac. Is there ANY way to get it back? The undo button is that grayish color when you can't click it. FUCK.

Shit, that's rough! Sorry i can't help you i don't have a mac. Won't the files be stored somewhere else incase something like this happens? I'm sure someone here will be able to help.

Re: Just lost my entire sample library!
have you ever backed up your data using time machine? just try opening up time machine and seeing if the folders still there.
Re: Just lost my entire sample library!
YES! easy fix. Time Machine isn't working right now because I don't have my external hard drive, but I just realized I backed up my hard drive about a week ago. I've only done some organizing since then, haven't added any new samples. Just a little bit of a pain in the ass, not a huge loss.
Why didn't I think of that before? Duh.
Anyways, it turns out to be not as much of a horror story
Carry on.

Re: Just lost my entire sample library!
Yeah but I thought I was just deleting it from that one place (you know like when you delete a file from the folder downloads it doesn't delete from the entire drive), but it turns out I was deleting it from the entire drive

Re: Just lost my entire sample library!
Step 1: Get External HD (Hard-Drive)
Step 2: Name Folder "Samples"
Step 3: Never Delete

Step 2: Name Folder "Samples"
Step 3: Never Delete

Re: Just lost my entire sample library!
Time machine has saved my ass soooo many times, I highly recommend it for your backup. You can fully restore your mac from it too. It does smart bqackups after the first main one, and only backs up what you have changed in incremental daily backups. actually I have it set to backup every hour. I one had a project corrupt on me, and I was able to restore it with only 10 mins of work missing.
Do it!
PS: your sample library should be on an external or second HD. Makes your system run smoother to keep your OS on one HD and samples/files/ect on another.

And then a backup of the sample HD incase that one bites the dust, and place it in a fire-proof tin incase your house sets ablaze, then bury it, incase thieves break in and think it's money.Depone wrote:PS: your sample library should be on an external or second HD. If you can, grab an app for mac called Gobbler. Its a cloud backup service for the most popular DAWS. Its really good.

Mine are all in D:\samples
any projects have all the samples self-contained within the project folder under d:\Reaper Tunes
no problems what so ever

Re: Just lost my entire sample library!
that`s why i love Reaper
it asks where the files is now located and searches the path for all other lost files
don`t other daws do the same?
