Im a massive Kode9 and Hyperdub fan.
Allstars 3 was my favorite mix for a very long time.

I had the pleasure of seeing him DJ (Vinyl) in San Francisco last year.
it was a sonically beautiful experience.

I enjoy both of the studio albums, for different moods, Black Sun is a real grower, it takes time to get into, but after you take a look through the futuristic dystopian society concept of the record, it has a very solid tone through the entire album, personally I'm not as infatuated with beats produced on ableton, sounds a little too flat, too computer processed, not as gritty as beats made in analog or logic, so with that weighing in, I would say Memories is more preferable to Black Sun, Memories just has the hypnotic lyrics and affirmations I like, though I still believe Black Sun was a very underrated album from last year, really ought to have made more end of the year lists, IMO.

What's also worth a listen is the Gills Patterson show they did for BBC 1 last year, and the boiler room live set.

Last but not least is the book Sonic Warfare, it's a very forward thinking piece of literature, I strongly suggest everyone take the time to read up on it and buy the hard cover if you can afford it, it's an absolutely stunning read, very interesting read indeed, solidifies the way I feel about bass music culture and DJ as sonic outlaw, channeling various fundamental concepts of rhythmic terrorism, challenging the constructs of what music is.

I'm totally a 180 on this. I've never been a fan of Kode9, just can't get into his production. Spaceape however, I wish I could work with him, that monotone kind of linear way of talking I find so intriguing. Very different and unique, almost out of worldly.
Fair do's man - each to their own.
Still need some more releases coming from the Hyperdub camp ASAP.

If you liked his Dubstep Allstars you should d/l some of his radio shows from 05/06 when he used to present the FWD show on Rinse.

I should huh? thanx. I've got a fuckload of old radio shows he's done, the rinse FM podcast with Wiley is a favorite for sure. From what I remember I downloaded it off the wire magazine's website. I have shows dating back to 2002 from http://forums.themavesite.com/index.php?topic=11473.0 it's a great resource for old dubstep archives.

Wasn't intended in a belittling way, genuinely was just advising you and anyone else interested to check them out if they hadn't heard them. :4:

started round 130bpm ended with jungle. first hour and a half was very good, not too much funkystepz, he played 9samurai and a couple of other goodies. second half was either okay-ish or hard to listen to (esp. the 150-160bpm juke stuff). jungle selection was spot on.
ended with burial and some classy 05/06 dubstep.
I enjoyed the set pretty much, he played some really wicked dubplates!! also the last burial tune is top notch

had a dream about him last night...

he was playing on a sound system that was like a cross between a giant brussel sprout and a tonsil...

very vienna sessionist but in green - not gold

toothpaste was involved - and very glamourous earings...pushy dental hygienii

I was angry

now i hope he'll play 9 samurai in lille too!

Yeah, Kode 9 is a true badman. He played in Denmark in september together with Ikonika, Scratcha DVA, Terror Danjah, 2000F, Jkamata Cooly G and Morgan Zarate... Truely one of the best parties i've ever been to.

2000F and Jkamata played a 30 mins live set with like 25 old synths and drum-machines... It was amazing. Might have gotten a bit drunk at some point, so can't remember how Ikonika and Terror Danjah played :corntard:
