UK dubstep SMASHES Sonar!!

Post by mary anne hobbs » Mon Jun 18, 2007 4:51 pm

yes yes ya'll

just a note to let you all know UK Dubstep ROCKED Sonar festival in 2007!!

this was a historic moment 4 real... we took an underground UK sound out of small humid clubs that hold a few hundred people, and onto a international festival stage infront of an audience around 6 and a half thousand or more... and the reaction was absolutely phenominal...

massive heart-felt thanks and maximum respect to Skream, Oris Jay, Kode 9 & The Spaceape for exceeding every expectation and absolutely smashing the UK Dubstep stage to bits.. you totally rule!!

i've been mobbed in person and on-line from people all over the world saying just how brilliant the experience was... even Jamie Cullen(!) was out skanking in the crowd with Mala and absolutey loving the sound..

check the before and after pix of the stage at
www.myspace.com/maryannehobbs

these are such exciting times for all of us...

Marry Anne i saw your name in a portuguese summer festival (Sudoeste) lined up for august so let me ask you for a confirmation, is it confirmed? If so.. will be there for some more exciting times for sure.
Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:
Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?

sonar was incredible. ravin in the open air & bacardi's with a shot of coke are the business. standardly kode 9 rocked it, oris jay brought the heavy basslines, and skream absolutely smashed it!!!! the crowd were well on it. the pic on the left is oris jay and the crowd are on the right...check out the dodgems at the back. big up to everyone there!!!

Yeah friday night rocked, sadly i only managed to catch mary ann´s set in the end, some real killer tracks from her, then kode9 came on stage with their distinctive beautiful sound and then back to heavy artilery, with oris jay and deep pulsating basses with skream´s flawless set... the guy after just didnt do anything for me, i like the scuba tracks, but it just didnt fit after the tracks skream played ... rest of the night was mostly crap, as expected, so i prefered to skip saturday night and get to la cova instead, and i am really happy i did... one of the nicest clubs i´ve seen, great music from all the artists-djs, very friendly atmosphere and friendly security... huge respect to that german guy (hope u reading this mate - didnt get a chance to say goodbye) for all the free booze and j´s...
