Hearbreaker does some really cool soulful stuff. A different take on it than a lot of people. He was also the first I ever heard play it in a full club. It was nice. Lots of bass, some real musical elelments, and a beat that everyone could groove to. It inspired this mix. Which doesn't have any heartbreak in it but it is labeled so that you can find the artists of anything you might want to explore more.
Also in true moombahton fashion, there is a pic of a sexy girl and bad graphics..

Havn't personally paid it too much attention, only time i've heard it played out is when Diplo played some at Parklife, there was definately some vibe about it, it did however get killed when he mixed it into skrillex..

i think if it's mixed with different genre's it could turn out to be alright, more diverse sets etc, but more than like 20 minutes straight and you'd be like, ok one trick pony.

Haven't personally been huge on this stuff but stumbled across this Ear Jerker stuff so thought I'd share some of it. More stuff like this I could get in to.

I remember Skream mentioning a recent set he done and saying "i played everything from old dubstep, new, house, jungle and moombahton.. theres really room for a good genre there"

Not his exact words but you get the jist. Seems to be getting some recognition, maybe it'll push people to try it out? I've not heard anything im particularly fond of but would be interesting if a few big producers start attempting it.

What are the defining characteristics of this "MOOMBAHTON"

Of all the songs posted, I really fucking detest every single one, many of them have extremely similar drum patterns, not feeling, hope it dies.

Haha Cornbreadddd

I honestly don't like any of the songs that I've heard in the genre either. They all sound pretty shit, and mostly exactly the same as well.
However, that doesn't mean it doesn't have the potential to grow into something cool

Struggling to see why there's even a discussion about this on Dubstep Forum, but I'm yet to hear a moombahton track that is any good. That track that Doonedave posted on the first page was pretty good until I heard the drums. Think I only liked it until then because it sounded a bit like a devil mix. The drums are fucking boring man.

Also, a lot of what I've heard just sounds like brostep at 110. Seems to just be the next thing that kids that never listened to electronic music before brostep are hyping over.

somebody should tell those electro cigarettes to play their records at 45 RPM's again. Waste music.

I like what I've heard, which tends to be both quirky and funky. Definitely got its own unique vibe going. Kind of like glitchy electrosalsa. I can imagine some Esquivel tracks being reworked in moombahton... for ex raver nerds that like latin dance music.
