What do you guys think about this?
Okay, so I came across this release.

The tunes are huge, no doubt. But in that first tune -- "Dark Visions" I feel that the blatant resampling of tunes like 'Field of Vibrations' just really kills the vibe for me. I mean yeah both these tunes are great, dark, and deep, but I just can't really get past the fact that everyone is using the same sounds over and over, and the same minor half-step chord progression over and over. Do you guys not find that kind of frustrating?
I feel like resampling is great, and very useful, if done tastefully and inconspicuously.
Regardless, I'll be copping this one because I do like the tunes, and would like to support this guy.

I like tunes/producers which have their own identities but sometime some tunes just reinvent the wheel and do it well. This is a good example of the latter.

Agreed, I feel that every producer should have their own identity. I've always been shocked to see how resampling is so accepted in the community, I feel like it should be something more shunned, as it's completely unprogressive. However, like you said, some people can make a very good tune out of it, like this guy. But still, I think its partly to blame for the similarity of dungeon tunes. Also, a ridiculous number of the dungeon tunes coming up these days have the same exact chord progressions. Primarily why I dig Lurka and Commodo so much.Raad wrote:I like tunes/producers which have their own identities but sometime some tunes just reinvent the wheel and do it well. Re: What do you guys think about this?
when people say resampling cornbread they dont mean they resample someones tune its the name of a production technique to get different sounds out of synths
so you make a sound in massive and push it as far as you can and then bounce it out and bring it in and start again on the sound and are able to push it further with no limitations

Interesting, can you clarify what you mean by "bounce it out" and "bring it in." I just started producing so I'm not so skilled yet, but what you said sounds interesting.Pistonsbeneath wrote:when people say resampling cornbread they dont mean they resample someones tune its the name of a production technique to get different sounds out of synths

I always interpreted "resampling" to mean just taking sounds from one song and putting them in another.
Re: What do you guys think about this?
To bounce a track is to export an audio mixdown of a track. So he means you create a sound from a synth, push it and manipulate it as far as you can, then you export the track, then you import it again and start manipulating again.Cornbreadddd wrote:Interesting, can you clarify what you mean by "bounce it out" and "bring it in." Re: What do you guys think about this?
i think it's a little unfair to make a whole thread flagging this up... yeah it's a very similar sound, but i doubt he lifted it straight from the track, and the tune is pretty hard regardless. i agree that people should be driving to use new sounds to avoid the sound going stale - but he's a small name tryna do his thing, a thread like this is the last thing he needs
Re: What do you guys think about this?
this 'dungeon' sound has definitely reached brostep levels of repetitiveness...so boring
