i know what u mean i didnt mean explain it in a small minded way, when i say fad i mean the people who just jumped on it when it was big and then moved on when the next big thing came along, i still have mates who listen to it, so sorry didnt mean to put it like that.

WTF is new rave anyway, neo-rave ive heard of...as in bang face, (breakcore, jungle, gabba, old school rave etc...)

but i dont think its the same thing, cause neo-rave is actually really fucking good, and captures the spirit of the early nineties rave culture, where as (from what i gather) new rave sounds like a bunch of indie kids in skinny jeans listening to shit 'electro' and dancing like they've been poked by a cattle prod...

someone clarify please

sorry but i gotta say that your both right and wrong on this one. ska has been going on for a long time but it has crossed over into mainstream success and become a fad and back again. nothing to get bent about.
people still play with rubik's cubes. but they were definately a fad. it's like chuck tailors. been around for ever, always a classic. but there popularity with certain groups of people waxs and wanes

Naw, the whole Ska Punk thing aint died down on a scale like any fad though. Its still masive, with new bands and loads of nights going in England alone.

I must admit this new-rave scene crossover does kind of scare me. I've always liked to be into music that is obscure and different, although I don't really think I can rationally justify trying to keep a scene 'underground' for that reason.

It's defiantly good to see people's hard work paying off and getting wider exposure and bringing new people to a scene has got to be good as long as they are there to have fun!

This new-rave this seems to be happening all over the place in different ways.. how about the Trouble and Bass dances in New York. I've been to the blog a view times and it seems to meet all the criteria; hipsters, fashion, ironic use 80s/rap music...

In saying that.. I would love to go, it looks like a great time and the mixes I've heard from these guys has been great

so maybe we should all get over ourselves... dubstep may of been your special little secret but its all grown up now.

Yeah it is kind of snobbish, think the whole "my music" thing gets very cliqueish especially between guitair-based music fans and others who listen to electronic/rap music. This mostly seems to come out amongst younger people though, as I've gotten older my tastes have spread and I've become more tolerant.

Be mature about it and appreciate the spread of the virus.

as soon as producers/DJ's & punters start taking Dubstep too seriously and over analysing the scene, thats when elitism & musical facisim begins.

seriously have a spliff and go back to the buttons, stop worrying about the scene and start worrying about the SOUND.

the sound is all that matters.
