Crow Steppa: Drums are sweet, lovin that synth I think you coulda made the drop transition better but thats me, good work overall! :)
Sunshaft: Sweet man! Sounds nice, I would recommend at some point play the melody an octave higher and then back to normal melody. I think'd sound good with it :)
@Hysterics I think the song would sound better an octave below. The synth at the begginning kinda wrecks the ears but overall this has potential :)

Here's my WIP It's drumstep or whatever you wanna call it, still gotta work on it loads any criticism would be helpful.

@Apastrat that vocal is way too loud in the mix mate.

@CrewCutz I think the snare in "zomstep" is a bit weak atm mate, try EQ'ing it or layering it to give it a bit more punch. also, I'd try to avoid using samples like those in your tunes, they're well known and at this stage they're starting to sound a bit cliché too. your mid riffage is very cool though, very heavy - though I'd reccomend getting a really robust sub to follow that riff, it'd have a hell of a lot of impact. it sounds like most of the sub is in your kicks atm. you've kept on top of your mixdown so far though, nothing sounds muddy at all.

@darkdubz solid drop mate, your arrangement and mixdown are great. very nice sub to. I kinda think the synth sounds a little uninspired atm though!

WIP from me and a mate, it's a little quiet so you might have to adjust your speakers. cheers!

edit: Forgot to mention, listen to it as a very early bare bones arrangement - rhythm section and light mids only atm, keys will be added soon. Just wanted some tips on the arrangement, how the elements are sounding together, etc.

@ riich, that's pretty darn good for only a couple of hours of messing around. your bass sounds nice though you might want to add some harmony or counterpoint to it somehow. it sounds good but after the part after the drop with the crazy bass noises but it's kind of one dimensional if you get what i'm saying.

@ acid rat your bassline is boring. it's going places but it doesn't seem to have a particular direction at any given point. and it's kind of annoying having that one sound for the majority of the song.

@ cosmic surgeon: you got some serious heavy dark dubby vibes but it's wayyy to minimalist for my taste. boring. add some kind of guitar or organ i'd say if you want to keep people's attention. unless you're going for a k-hole vibe

here's my WIP: I'm gonna change the notes in the piano harmony that hits around 1:45. Soundcloud

@cosmic surgeon: liking the hats a lot and the vocals too, sub feels really warm and nice, but i think the main wob could be a little bit higher, I like the one at :05 a lot, nice work!
@acit rat, liking the filter work in the intro a lot, however, the kick is way too loud i think. feels like its lacking a bit of structure, and itd be cool to have a bit more suspense before the drop. Really like those background sounds that kick in around 1:25. snare needs to be louder, and that lead is it really sick!, keep it up :D
@riich: really good job for only 2 hours of work! ive missed hearing ur tunes the last while haha. Sick drop and everything, I think some of the basses need to be a bit tighter tho. and I don't mind the 4/4, but i think the percusion needs to follow it if you know what i mean, like having a drum or snare hit each note for it, like kick, kick, snare, kick, then return to normal drums. good job man!

Here's my wip, i posted it but it was near the end of the last page :/ like I said before, THIS IS JUST A SMALL CLIP FROM THE TUNE< AND I'd mostly appreciate feedback on the reese. Thanks everyone! :D

@riich - intro synth sounds good a bit of bass pop going on. really big sounds in this, and the samples sound good. nice start man.

@Acidrat - filtered intro sounds good, but the drop felt like it lacked the full spectrum. like the whole things filtered? very unique sound going on.

@cosmic surgeon - very deep! i like the ambiance alot in this. actually very relaxing. nice work!

@drake89 - nice tension in this. very unusual format but it sounds good man. i really like the slowed down part around 2:17

@djcappa - not bad man, i like the synth melody over the drop alot. the bottom end sounds a bit muddy, but overall not a bad start.

tried making some pads an ambiance in massive this morning... turned out okay.. gonna go another round at it here soon. what do you guys think?

@jim: Nice atmosphere, I think the pads would work really well with another element. Nothing quite as good as a head full of acid :D

Posted my tune earlier but only got 1 feedback.. The 3 feedbacks I posted are here http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f ... 0#p2734530

@jimbeaux like the sample. mix is really quiet but it sounds like you're just starting work on it.

@fluidmoshun i like the panning you have going on and the warped melody is really cool. looking forward to more progress!

@cosmic surgeon. keep it up, definitely liking the groove you have going there. don't add too much :)

track is in my sig. i feel like it's about 90% done now. any recommendations on additions i should make? thinking about adding a vocal but not sure if i should. this is my first attempt at production by the way :corndance:

@Difference very nice vibe you're bringing out here mate - I especially like the arrangement of the pads around 1:09~ and the keys which come in around 2:27~ are a great touch, very emotive. I'd work on perhaps adding another element to the last half of that section with an eye to developing its subtle drama a little bit. Also, your percussion sounds quite flat right now - the pattern is nice, but you ought to play around with panning and carefully EQ'ing the different elements so you create an interesting "panorama". They stand out quite a lot at the beginning of the tune where it's still very, very minimal and so they need to be sounding perfect. Really nice first production though mate, your attention to percussive detail, rhythm, and feel for harmonies is encouraging! Excited to hear how your tunes develop.

@drake89 thanks man! and I know what you mean, i kinda struggle in the harmony aspect of drops, i just tend to get way too into the bass sounds and just overprocess everything, any tips on this would be appreciated

@dj Cappa I miss you too man! and i know what you mean on the 4/4, i just kinda hastly rushed through this (i have no time these days) and I like your remix its pretty perfect actually, just turn up the lows and overall sound of the reese in the drop a little and you'll be golden

@jimbeaux thanks man, I love that intro sound, so oldschool. thanks for the feedback

and cappa i was just wondering if you could comment on the thread i made for this song cause honestly no one has and maybe if you do more people will follow haha

Firstly feedback for others:
@difference: Your intro is really nice and mellow. The percussion is top notch, it reminds me a lot of stuff like SBTRKT or Phaeleh. You mentioned adding a vocal, I think you should try it - the variation should spice up the track to stop it becoming repetitive. One other tip - try panning your hats around along with some other hits.
@FluidMoShun: Your intro is sweet man. Did you play the guitar stabs or are they sampled? One thing I'd say is the fx on the guitars make a slightly muddied sound, try cutting some of the mid and pushing the top end eq on them and layering under a distinctly different bass. Otherwise the track sounds good, nice potential for a finished track.
@jimbeaux: Punchy perc, good vocal sample man. Bass hits hard, but I'd try and crispen it up a little, sounds a little squelchy at the moment.
@dj Cappa: The reese sounds okay, personally I'd work on fattening it up. Try layering the reese with 2 maybe 3 copies of itself, each with slightly different variations of effects, also maybe adjust the stereo width on each. Then blend them together either by using filters or simply mixing them well. Sounds promising though.

Anyways hey guys, been a few weeks since I posted a WIP, been working on a lot of stuff in between my day to day work. Anways I'm on a bit of a trip/glitch-hop flex at the moment, here's my latest WIP inspired by Pretty Lights and the work his label is pushing. Oh yeah it's 80bpm, and most definitely not dubstep :P

Soundcloud

Track was mixed on headphones, and very roughly mastered, some things probably sound shitty on other peoples systems.

Any comments, feedback and plays/comments on SoundCloud is really appreciated :)

Thanks. :W:

@mthrfnk, def sounds well produced, good mixdown and very nice sounds man! i love the ambience on your first track in the sig.
@riich, i like your sounds but they have a lot of harsh mids, as well as loads of reverb. it doesnt sound "bad" but things tend to lose there punch when there is reverb on them. other than that i like it.
@fluidmoshun, an enjoyable listen for sure, mixdown sounds good, even with all the sounds going on. good work man, i would emphasize a drop a bit more though.

heres my latest tune, and its very rough. i havent resampled, or added any risers/fx sounds yet, etc. but youll get the picture =)

hey whats up everyone. so this is my first ever attempt at an original tune, i made it tonight, its a work in progress obviously, and i already have a lot of ideas as far as further steps i just figured id throw it up on here to see what some other people think!

definitely adding some kind of atmosphere or something to the intro, fixing up the cleaner sounding wobbles in the middle, tightening up the drums and finally actually putting together a drum pattern from the drop til the end instead of the kick-snare/recycled hihats i duplicated into place.

any other feedback would be appreciated, and ill definitely start goin thru and checkin out everybody elses tunes as well. cheers :W:

@TheLastThing, i think u could definitely use that as part of a breakdown but not as a main part of a track. that tune in your sig is fuego tho

@Eye-Sic, great start man, lovin those higher register synths in the intro. i personally would experiment with a different snare pattern after the drop but i definitely am diggin the funkier vibe to it. big ups on the clean robotic sound design tho

Edit: Sorry bout that :Q:

go read the rules

3 pieces of feedback and please don`t give feedback to someone who hasn`t bothered.

*Legend4ry EDIT*

Please give feedback to AT LEAST 3 people before you post your track.. If you don't you'll probably not get feedback yourself. Its just common decency anyways!
