Redeye V Boomkat

Post by daggus » Tue Jun 19, 2007 5:08 pm

Think today settles it red eye all the way.

I like the look of boomkat site, but actually find it annoying to use. Plus they've fucked me about not responded to emails an claimed items out of stock when they're listed as instock. Not to mention takin ages delivering records when they're based closer to where i live than redeye is.

Today fallen(vex'd remix) turned up badly warped. Emailed redeye responded within an hour an said they'll send replacement. An i prefer the basic spreadsheet listing of their stuff too!

well i spent £58 in boomkat last week, and £35 in red eye on the weekend, and they both got there next day, ive learnt with boomkat....best thing to do is ring them after youve placed your order to make sure everythin is in stock, and if its not, have some replacements ready! cant really say much to them sayin its in stock on the site, must be fuckin hard work updatin the site as often as they do, they do stock about 20 genres compared to redeyes 4 as well.
I love both of them to be fair!

Redeye. I have been using the site for years. Their service has always been absolutely fantastic. The site is very simple, which I like. I don't need all that bullshit that boomkat has on their site. Not that I am cussing boomkat, I have never ordered from them but since redeye has what I am looking for, there is no need to try them.

Yeah, Boomkat for me cos I want to keep up with techno, ambient, folk and all that stuff at the same time. If only they'd stock more leftfield DnB...

Also worth it for the reviews.

I've never had any problems with any of them. I love Boomkat and I love Redeye. Bless them. Redeye seems to be a bit cheaper, though.

I've never messed with boomkat but redeye has consistently provided excellent service. It has happened maybe three times in 7 years of using them that an item made it into my basket that was out of stock. If there's ever an issue it's sorted out pretty much immediately after I notify them. I'm sure they'll get on the ball as far as new dubstep tunes sooner than later.

Personally prefer redeye. Last order on boomkat I've ordered 4 records and a cd. After one week got through post only 1 record and cd. Remaining order was out of stock. When I ordered it everything was in stock. Never happened anything like that with redeye.

I think out of all my Boomkat orders (ie lots) I've had two things out of stock that they said were in stock (and it's not like they charge you for it or anything) and one thing not show up which they sent a replacement for sharpish. My only complaint is that they could bag things up and send them out a day or two quicker than they do.

The kings of bad service have got to be Sister Ray online - I ordered an old Detroit techno 12" from them once, didn't get a confirmation or anything, waited for about a month, emailed them to ask what was going on... they explained that the record wasn't actually in print at that point, but it was on their stock list because they thought it was probably due for a repress, and they were holding my order in case it got one...

Boomkat is a better online store I find... Way more resourceful, much more exciting to read, better layout and better selection... Though, I buy about 90% of my stuff from redeye or norman records as the postage is much cheaper as I have to buy things bit by bit as I can't afford £50 orders. With boomkat they don't make it cheaper for each additional item so it ends up costing me loads if I were to order from them especially as their prices are usually a bit higher. I feel I should probably order from boomkat more as their site is so good and I use it so much though.

see where your coming from..... think i was pissed with the out of stock thing coz it was part of a bigger order an i had to paid for postage again(on different site) an wis skint at time. Plus it happen over the space of almost a week, which in my opinion is more than enough time to update a website.

Problem is most of the big dubstep tunes sell out so quickly an if you don't get them on 1st run your fuckin waitin for months. So if u miss 1st run an play out regularly sometimes its not worth pickin up copies of 2 month old tunes.

Suppose depends on how much you want the records, if needed them that badly maybe i'd phone them an check. But to be honest as a customer i shouldn't have to do that. Red Eye is more specialised to dubstep, which is why im probly i'm better off with them.

As for other genre's boomkat does have a lot, but whether a tunes good or bad they are hardly gonna give a shit review as they want to push them. So ill probably stick to good old crate diggin for that!

Redeye all the way for me, one delivery of about 8 or so 12's reached me in NSW Australia within 3 days of my online order, unbelievable. Only one record out of stock from all the orders i've placed with them too. And free stickers! :-p
