Wobble Bass in FL Studio, automate and sound example

Post by dubbernoob » Sat Feb 11, 2012 1:11 am

hello :),

well im pretty new to make wobble basses, i normally used standard bass lines etc. without automating.

what i wanted to do is some kind of hip hop and use a nice wobble bass, not so aggressive like typical dubstep here an example at 1:40 min.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yS8ttKC_ ... AAAAAAADAA

i have Massive too and i created a simple wobble bass and synced it, but i cannot get it nicely and varied synced wobbled like the example in the vid :(

any help is really appreciated!

First of all, fuck Massive. You don't need it.

In FL Studio there are several different synths with built in LFO. I am assuming you have access to all the synths Image Line offers.

Sawer and Toxic Biohazard both offer very good, very convenient sync-to-tempo LFO. Automate those knobs. Sawer, as the name suggests, uses saw waves so there are some limits to what sounds you can make. Toxic is more an FM synth, so if you aren't willing to invest some time in it, you'll not have a whole lot of creative luck, but you can get some really raunchy sounds out of it.

The pinnacle of FL synthesis is Sytrus. It isn't quite as easy to hit the perfect wobble speed because you can't just turn a knob to 3/16 but you can do waaaaaaaaay more with Sytrus than you can with ... most anything.

You can find YouTube tutorials about wobbling in Sytrus and if you need, I could upload a couple presets, you could mess with them until you get where you want to be.

Additionally you may wish to have your synth unassociated with the LFO so that you can automate it different ways, use different filters, whatever... the Peak Controller has an LFO to which a volume knob, low pass cutoff knob, or Reverb wet slider can be linked. Use the keyboard controller to set different LFO speeds by laying down notes in the piano roll and you're off to the races.

Finally, fuck Massive.

thanks a lot for the tips :)!

i just mentioned Massive as i read it is the mostly used one atm and yes i think you can do that with nearly all vsts?
i dont have toxic and sawer but sytrus, i could also use omnisphere for it.

i managed to make a simple (not good sounding though) wobble bass, but i dunno which method i should use when you dont work with a midi keyboard but for example mouse + pc keyboard, i tried creating automation or edit events, but both seem to be very time consuming for just half minute varied wobble bass. i would appreciate the presets from you alot :).

my test, it just sounds very simple and not good at all...
