um no ableton does not require you to do anything like that, i mean if im reading the question right. You can mixdown with out freezing/commiting anything to strick wavs OR you can freeze/bounce everything to WAV and mixdown that wya its YOUR CHOICE. ableton doesnt care either way, and your "goove" will be applied in both scenarios, aslong as you applied a groove in the first place lol.
