I find it amusing that the UK government is criminalising drug driving specifically when there isn't much evidence, if any, to justify it...

See, i think driving while fucked up is wrong. And sadly, some people can't handle the zoot. Even though there evidence against it messing up your reaction times and accident frequency, it's still viewed as immoral.
I personally may be able to drive while stoned out of my mind, but a n00b driver smoking for the first time might not fare so well when she sees clowns on the side of a busy intersection etc.etc.

Hmm yes but there's already a law against driving like a dickhead and it covers driving under the influence of anything so there's no need for more leglislation and posing!

They might just think they're seeing it, people blow the effects of pot out of proportion in their own head to the point of it being 'real' for them... basically, they're fucked off their own stupidity

The way they're doing it in Europe ATM with legalizing growing a few plants for your own consumption is the one. Only hardcore smokers are going to bother growing, so people that don't smoke won't start, and it eliminates the criminal aspect entirely. Can't see any downsides of that system at all.

You could hypothetically grow a few plants yourself and sell it off, but with only a few plants it really wouldn't be worth it.

yeah something similar in parts of Oz
but I'm coming round to advocating the decriminalization of all drugs in personal amounts
+ taxing like alcohol/tobacco
if only to avoid pervasive corruption & rorting which acts to push drugs

maybe even licensing users after they pass health tests...

Yeah, i 've heard some people be lke, i can stop time, scooby doo climbed in my window, etc etc.
One time when a friend was driving me home while he was tripping, there was clowns at a sonic we stopped at, and people shooting a music video behind us. It happens. Haha. And yeah, people smoking for the first time is usually tragic experience in humility, sadly.

Hate to take it off the clowns on the road and stuff, but here's what I'm looking forward to in Canada...

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/inside- ... a-law.html

Basically in late 2011 the Ontario court ruled that it was unconstitutional to have the medical marijuana system the way it was here, and the president set was that they essentially told the government to fix access to MMJ within 30 days or it would nullify the penalties for growing your own (regardless of whether you're an official MMJ user).

The federal government appealed, and the appeal date is March 5-6, 2012. It'll be interesting to see what happens!

(*Just a caveat, I haven't a clue about how the legal system works, the summary above was just what I gathered from the article and the summary I've heard other people make... It'll probably take more than one court ruling to change the laws, but it's a step in the right direction!)

Unfortunately, at the same time Harper is passing ridiculous crime bills. I read the majority of liberals were in favour of legalization. Too bad elections aren't for another few years.
One of the upsides to Jack Laton's unfortunate death is that the NDP will probably have less rapport with the voters, meaning the liberal vote will no longer be spread so thin across the two parties.

Looking forward to that march date though. It'd be revolutionary if the penalties surrounding cannabis were nullified.

^ Are locals concerned about the levels of schizophrenia & dope-caused traffic accidents?

Wasn't there a crackdown lately...or was this about tourists & other drugs?
