how to keep the fire going
i find myself bored with the whole edm/bass music ting nowadays. i can't be too excited about new releases, don't bother listening to it much and i only buy records so that i'd have something new to play at our monthly little club. i barely listen to them. how do you relight the fire

Re: how to keep the fire going
What i do is i spend a few weeks just listening to classical and jazz ballads, nothing but real instruments and great older recordings, some classic rock and roll
Then after i don't feel like listening to that anymore i come back to beats and bass
if you're not feelin something there's no point forcing it, imo
but don't choose to live without music

Just keep following the good labels, be open minded - And go to the house section of this forum, some really great stuff being shared in there. Oh yeah, and buy vinyls instead - have gone from being a traktor/cd-dj to play mostly vinyl and it is just something different.

just don't bother actively searching for new shit, if you hear something out you hear it
Re: how to keep the fire going
yeah as i stated in the op, i still buy records (always been 100% vinyl) but i just cant force myself to be as excited about them as i used to. they're just something to play out if i get to dj somewhere. and i've been following a bit broader scale of edm since day so listening to a bit of house isn't that refreshing. guess the answer is just to play actual instruments and listen to rock and shit, to call the whole electronic music thing off for a while, as someone here suggested!JensMadsen wrote:Just keep following the good labels, be open minded - And go to the house section of this forum, some really great stuff being shared in there. I got into hip hop when I was having the same problem as you, helped me at least.

Time to make your own

throw on a classic 2step track and get wonky.
I found a way to get piece of mind for years and left the hell alone, turn a deaf ear to the cellular phone
