Build-up fx methods

Post by invictus » Thu Feb 23, 2012 7:12 pm

What are the fx you use for a build-up?
I've been using a lot of eq'ed white noise LP filtered but I'm fed up with it.
What do you guys do? :)

White noise, envelope the colour and the cutoff of the lp filter. Envelope the resonance to open a little bit. Layer it with a saw wave, lfo on pitch, envelope the lfo rate so it build ups. Add a reverb, control the size and the dry wet knob, it starts fully dry and with the largest room. Compress, bitcrush a bit.

^ That and: instead of using envelopes, I use a macro control on Massive. This gives me more and easier control over the length and the way it rises with automations.

Either white noise, or i make a pad with lots of reverb and use band rejecting and notch filtering with slow lfos controling lots of paraments not restarting so it just sounds like moving white noise
