not bad but your bass frequencies are drowning out the beat.

I reckon spend more time just making bass patches and that just to get used to making cleaner basses. The ideas there but i reckon like it oculd be executed better, hope i ent being a dick by saying that

Advice is never taken as a dick comment

It was a bit cleaner, but then i added some distortion... should i turn that down a bit/ remove it completely ?

its all in the EQ mate. the best thing to do is EQ everything indervidualy before EQing the track as a whole.
your bass is far too high and i dont think the distortion dose it any favors.
the best thing to do with your EQ is to play around with it untill you get the right mix,
trying it on different size speakers helps you reach an equilibrium over a range of frequncys.
you could bring up the volume of the beats and put them through a compesser to give them more punch, but too much compression on the overall track will make the bass swallow up the rest of the tune.

I am currentl reading up on EQing, as i have never given it much thought.. Also gonna turn the distortion down.
