metal is played with live instruments though, and the electric guitar is still an "acoustic" instrument its just amplified and then distorted and such, the sound created though is still from the physical strings vibrating and not synthesized. same goes for the drums and bass and even vocals are live and not sampled etc. thus metal is not infact electronic music by definition.
electric guitars are synthesizers, it just uses the strings to synthesizse instead of a computer. its stil a digital signal. ive done a course in audio engineering

electric guitar is not an "acoustic" instrument lol.. why do u think its called electric

the electric guitar is not a synthesizer, the sound produced comes from the vibration of the strings being manipulated by the player and its simply amplified through the pickups, if it was a synthesizer then different types of wood, resonance chambers, string gauge, pick type, hard or soft attack wouldn't effect the out come of the sound, all those things would have to be programed or controlled by a midi input. The sound created with an electric guitar when played through a totally clean amp is the sound of the guitar amplified using the pickups which are wire wound magnets, try shouting into a guitar pickup, you can hear your voice through the amp, the signal may be an electrical one but it comes from an acoustic instrument. not to mention its acoustic in the sense that its a fully functional instrument when played unplugged as well, try playing a synthesizer unplugged..... did you try it? see nothing :a:

and anyway by your logic BBking and muddy waters are pioneering electronica artists.

by the way digital guitars and synthesizers DO exist but original electric guitars are NOT synthesizers and calling metal or any other guitar music is electronic music is just retarded.

actually you do get sound from playing an unamplified electric guitar, exactly the same as an acoustic guitar, the acoustic guitar strings are just amplified by the hollow body instead of being converted into an electronic signal

not sure why the hell it matters though

a guitar is electric yes, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it a synth, you need to be modulating a current in order to produce a synth sound.
