hmmm ... then i guess it would be by what song it is not the artist themselves? like... if someone is about to share a track... they should think which section it would fit... its pretty easy to tell if something is "commercial" or not. i love all dubstep but i still find it easy to pick a track that my ignorant friends would like and which ones they would be like "wtf is this"

something needs to be done. there is a lot of amazing "brostep" but there is a lot more SHIT out there than good stuff... if there was a sub forum for people to share what they consider to be big tunes... it may help people find the good stuff? i dunno.

The solution is not in a sub-forum or a mass thread. All musical genres have commercial and non-commercial, you don't need sub group for that. Instead it lies with some people changing their mentality on this forum and being a little more accepting to different variations of the sound. The genre has evolved, why can't the forum evolve with it?

Skream recently mentioned he liked Skrillexs music....now imagine if he posted that on here? Haha.

Many on here are quick to say particular artists are not Dubstep, perhaps what should really be questioned is whether this forum reflects what Dubstep is in 2012.

Please give it some thought mods.

(Love all of your faces :-D)

I take what any artist says about another artist with skepticism, could you imagine the backlash that Skream would face if he said he didn't like Skrillex's music?
This is the public image of Skream, 1/3 of Magnetic Man remember, not the Skream who made Midnight Request Line.

I'm not going to pretend I like something, because I could give a shit what Skrillex's fans think of me. Skream probably gives at least 2 dozen shits about what Skrillex fans think of him, because a lot of his fans are also fans of Skrillex!

and even if Skream really does like Skrillex's music, that's his taste, NOT mine, NOT everyone else's

If I don't agree the way a sound is evolving then fuck it, I'm not going to blindly follow it! Who would do that?

I don't listen to Drake because he's on the radio, he's a tool, I listen to Hip Hop I enjoy

Dsf is supposed to be the forum with good music. That's why we came here, right?

I am with ya, I wish we could get away from the labeling within the genre itself. I get enough of that from non-Dubstep fans, shame I have to come to this board and hear it here too.

I don't think it's worth making another subforum but 'filth' would probably be the most suitable name if it were to be made. Ironic really that the track 'Filth' is so far removed from what the average punter would consider filthy these days.

A lot of brostep isn't filthy though, the more commercial shit like Nero lately is about as clean as it comes

first

a million threads have been merged in here

second

this is a place to discuss, wait for it.... BROSTEP/SKRILLEX & DSF

do you honestly believe that there would be as much trolling if the focus was shifted from general to elsewhere?

If the thread annoys you, don't read/post in the thread. Not rocket science.
