Re: post dubstep tunes
Hey welsh. This is pretty nice sounding for a first track. I think it may sidechain too hard in the beginning but as soon as the voice comes in it kicks in quite nicely. I love the reverses and the entire feel of it. I thought it may be out of sync a tad at first and then synced as soon as it kicked in but I'll have to listen to it again once I get home. Quick ending. You could try adding a quick silence maybe for 8 beats right before it kicks in for a good little feel. Thats just my opinion though. Im curious did you do the voice yourself? Cause that Voc sounds amazing! I absoloutly dig how the voice changes around 1 minute. The humming also adds a lot.
Not too bad honestly. If this is your first I'm looking forward to hearing what you do next.

Agree on the sidechaining, it's almost killing the rest of the tune whenever that reverse kick is hitting. The hats are also too high in the mix, maybe EQ to take some of their freqs out. Not a fan of that vocal at all, sounds very disjointed and with the discordant melody in the background makes for very difficult listening.

I'll have a look into the side chaining, did the vocal myself with a few FX I'm currently working on 2 others needs some more time though, thanks for the pointers

Re: post dubstep tunes
Wub you just hate vocals man! lol Im jk. I just gave it a second listen with the monitors and I couldn't hear this on the laptop but two sounds are out of sync. First The beat is always on sync since thats the glue that holds your synths/vocals/fx together. and by beat I mean your kick snare hats and such. like wub said that reverse kicks gotta go or nudge it over to match your beat. The vocals are also off beat as well. I've found the biggest problems with singing in electronic music today is the fact that beat is a lot and if you just sing to it with no quantization it will sound like crap. I suggest using a Plugin where you can layout your voice and edit it and maybe match the notes you sing to the beat better. This is no problem with some plugins and makes for a really nice effect. If you use FL Studios Newtone is your best friend today. Wub probably knows of another plugin for the daw you use. The notes are great in my opinion and the vocals are solid besides the sync part and maybe lacking a tad bit of EQ. Try to bust out what Wub said and repost it. I'd like to see it when its revised.

Re: post dubstep tunes
quite an interesting track dude, i like pretty much all the sounds you use just not sure how it all fits togeather. however i find the untidyness captivating and alot more interesting to listen to than your average wobble track. enjoyed listening to this one, exciting to see where it goes

Re: post dubstep tunes
unfortunately
i by accident just deleted a whole month worth of work and this track is one of them i feel so cross with myself well tomorrow starts with a trip to the computer shop to get a hdd for backups. gonna try recover as much as i can but some's corrupt
Re: post dubstep tunes
i hate that man, i deleted the first 6 tracks i ever made and when i listen to them i'm like how the hell did i make that sound? then realise i don't have the files to find out how i made them myself. get used to saving the sounds you use and the synth settings and even reverb and delay settings you use, instead of working from scratch on the default settings, saves alot of time and builds up character to your style of music

Re: post dubstep tunes
i was clearing out some of the empty files in cubase where i start a song but never really did anything so i dont save into it, just a shell folder. so i selected the folder view by size to cut out all the songs and well somehow i selected the wrong stuff and deleted and the emptied the bin. recovered half of a project as one of the .bak (backup file) wasnt corrupt when i used the recuva software to try get some of it back my hard drives fine but i dont ever want this to happen again so i going to get a backup HDD.
Any suggestions on a hdd would be good i need it for both backup and general storage such as my vast itunes library and samples

Re: post dubstep tunes
Sorry to hear about the HDD man. I'm fully OCD about that. I clone my hard drives every weekend...lol!
Dig the originality in it. Agree with wub and Zetaofficial about the side chaining at the beginning and the reverse kicks. I agree that it sounds disjointed and cluttered, but that could work in favor of the tune (if thats what you were going for!) if you make it a bit more transparent.
You might want to experiment more with what you can do with the stereo image and some mid/side processing (on individual channels as well as the master). You can take things like the piano and guitar and scoop out a bit of the 500-2k in the mid, and boost the highs on the side, which will spread things out a little more and your ear can kind of float between things as opposed to having to try and decode everything going on at the same time in the mid. Did that make any sense? Lol. Im a big fan of Brainwork Digital v2 for that kind of stuff (Ozone works too).
Looking forward to more tunes.
