Just messed around with FM8 and some distortion.. Not spot on, but I kinda like it

Ohmicide for the most part, but I think I also ran it through WOW filter, with some overdrive and to get a more vowely sound before some eq automation stuff

I am experienced in making these growls but have a hard time making them sound good for resampling, anyone know sweet spots for the growl to be synthesised and distorted? I usually distort 80hz - 900hz in general to achieve that midrangey growl but do you guys keep ti completely fxless? like no chorus or sidechaining? Im having a tough time reusing them as samples, I usually play a long sustaining note in whichever notes I need for the song then export as wavs them reopen them to free cpu, but they always come out weird and cheap :s

I spent today trying to recreate Skrillex's "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites." I believe I have something close (of course not exactly).

I think it's hilarious that in other areas of this board the focus is on talking shit about Skrillex and demonizing that style of music, yet here in the Production forum this thread is the hottest item. Interesting to say the least..
