Once you've moulded multiple kicks, snares etc together and added effects nobody in the world could prove that, and every artist doing a collab would probably be breaking the law.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_watermark_detection

I'm 100% sure in the vengeance packs they say that they put watermarks in the samples (correct me if I'm wrong), who knows if it's true or not though. Not trying to give you a hard time or anything but I just read somewhere in the thread that you have about 10k downloads on these sample packs, wasn't sure if you knew the legality so I felt compelled to respond. The difference between a collaboration between an artist or two sharing samples and distributing copyright protected samples over 10k times should be fairly obvious you know? You already admitted that these samples were from popular sample packs such as the vengeance house pack correct? So I would assume if the wrong people found out about this they might be a bit pissed you know? As cool as it is that your handing out good samples to the community I can't help to see the difference between handing out cracked copies of massive or ableton. Just because it may go unnoticed doesn't mean it's the right thing to do :/ just my 2 cents.

You're free to use them in your song. But you're not free to modify and/or redistribute them. Which is precisely what he did.

Isn't it the general consensus that vengeance samples are ripped straight from other tracks anyway?

Err, just my 2 cents:

Sampling others work is VERY common in all types of Electronic Music. Much more common than any of us think. He's giving it for free. I don't see any problem with it...

the argument is whether or not he can give out paid samples for free even though they've been modified, and many people do see a problem with (not me personally)

Same thing. I'm pretty sure a lot of famous sample packs contain samples layered from other samples packs or even from tracks. He's not the first one. And he's doing it for free :)

So your saying that companies take other peoples products and re sell them to make money and you justify this by saying that they should be free?

Just because vengeance allegedly steals a sample from an artist then sells it doesn't mean it's right to then redistribute that sample. Not saying that they don't do this, I personally have heard this from tons of people but haven't done the comparisons myself. Anyways, so if thats the case redistributing a stolen sample leaves you just as guilty as them basically. So now you have Vengeance who holds the licensing to that sample, and the label and or artist that holds the rights to the tune which the sample came from originally that can now hold you liable if they wish. Two wrongs don't make a right & imo it's just not worth the risk. & at least if you feel compelled to do it, do it right and don't leave such an obvious trace that leads right back to you.

I'm pretty sure that's not what he said, based on the fact that's not what he said.

I never said that. I don't agree with companies doing that, obviously, but they shouldn't do it for free neither.
But the thing is, this happens all arround electronic music. People "steal" drums, movie quotes, acapellas, loops, music notes... if I agree, well I'm a bit in favour of that if you trash it enough to make something NEW. May not be ethical, but some awesome music was made this way (Prodigy's Voodoo People/Smack My Bitch Up). Sampling is an art if you do it creatively.

apologies for bringing about an older thread but came across this and was only able to get the first sample pack download with 1-2 snares. sounded awesome but the other links for the full packs are down on mediafire. suppose this was a for a reason though but does anyone have working links to these samples by any chance? thank you.
