Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
Alright guys.
Just started with Ableton, following some tutorials on youtube to get the basics.
And there is one little problem buggering me.
In this video tutorial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlvFpZJpZxA
At 4:15 min he records one perfect bar.
If I press record it just keep recording.
So how to fix this?
Cheers!

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
Ive been using ableton's envelope filter to modulate my synth. i have a microkorgxl synth. i can change almost any parameter. the manual list all the cc channels also. i dont have the sound running into or out of my computer. i am running my drum kits in ableton and i have all of my envelope filter synced to the drums. i also have ableton controlling the clock on the korg. i dont play samples. i can play my songs live on my synth and let ableton do the modulations . any one else experimenting with this.
Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
I am back with yet another question trying to figure out this Ableton Live mystery.
When I load up a bunch of different synths into one sampler, how do I go on about adding different effects to the different synths?

Like you loaded them into one rack? There are 3 different buttons on the far left side of the rack. One of them, I can't remember which one atm, will open up the chains so you can put different effects on all of them.
Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
I think you misunderstood me. I have loaded them all up in a Sampler, not a rack.Sine69 wrote:DubMikey wrote:I am back with yet another question trying to figure out this Ableton Live mystery.

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
You can't. A Sampler is a single instrument, with a single effects chain. There are probably ways of achieving what you want, but a single Sampler for multiple 'instruments' isn't one of them.DubMikey wrote:I think you misunderstood me. record quantization, look at when he says "Because its quantized here to one bar" he puts his cursor up to where it says one bar.Dafuq wrote:Alright guys.

I also did that.
But problem solved, i clicked record just once. So it kept recording.
Now I clicked twice and i got a perfect bar.
Thanks for the help,
Cheers!
Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
Hey guys, got a quick question about slicing a pitch- and time-shifted audio to midi. when i do that, all the time- and pitch-shifted settings are gone and the sample is only sliced to midi in its original settings.
is there any solution to this i don't see? i can work with the audio slices too, but in midi it would be much handier.
thx in advance

freeze the clip then flatten before you slice to midi, should do the trickTordal wrote:Hey guys, got a quick question about slicing a pitch- and time-shifted audio to midi. when i do that, all the time- and pitch-shifted settings are gone and the sample is only sliced to midi in its original settings.

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
If you're in Arrangement View you can also just consolidate the clip. For some reason you can't consolidate in Session View, and 'Crop Clip' doesn't have the same effect on warp markers.JTMMusicuk wrote:freeze the clip then flatten before you slice to midi, should do the trickTordal wrote:Hey guys, got a quick question about slicing a pitch- and time-shifted audio to midi. when i do that, all the time- and pitch-shifted settings are gone and the sample is only sliced to midi in its original settings.

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
Try loading each sound into a drum rack instead (drum racks work for any sound, not just drums). That will create an individual sampler for each sound and for each key on the keyboard. Then you can add effects separately. You could also do an instrument rack, duplicate the sampler chain however many times you want different effects chains, and then mute out the parts you don't want in each to play by adjusting the key ranges in the sampler.DubMikey wrote:I think you misunderstood me. Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
does anyone know why when i drop a tune into ableton only the first minute of the wavform loads, then just stops as if the tune is only that long, yet when i play it in a mediaplayer it works fine?

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
That's because there's already another tune on that track (isn't it?). Don't worry about it, just take your mouse and expand the track...abs wrote:does anyone know why when i drop a tune into ableton only the first minute of the wavform loads, then just stops as if the tune is only that long, yet when i play it in a mediaplayer it works fine?

Are you sure you have enough space on your hard drives for the decompression?
