If I had 3 of them then I'd say 3 thumbs up for the percs. Like the wide stereo image on them, makes them sit nicely with the other percussion. I'm not too sure about on how they come in though, but i'll leave some comments on sc for this, easier to know what part i'm talking about

@1stfiest: This track has some cool elements, but that bitcrushed sub just overpowers everything else. It would sound better not crushed and with an envolope on the amplitude with a fast attack and medium decay and low sustain, playing those same notes and rythyms though. I like the sample. The drum pattern is decent but some of the drum samples sound a bit random and haphazardly chosen IMO. Anyways, keep working on it.
@Travis Baker: I really like the feel of this track. Samples and atmoshpere hit really nice. I really like those hats and shakers; they sound awesome on top of this. I like the rim shot although maybe it could be brought up just a hair? Not a huge fan of the pitched block in the second portion, but other than that I think this is really good. Nicely done!
@Cubicle:Nice work. Like the way all the instruments compliment each other. The only real things I can say is the guitar sounds a bit messy and could be better mixed and the flute sounds a bit harsh on certain notes. That and the hat sounds like it's got a bit too much reverb on it, and it gets a bit monotinous after a bit. All in all this is really good though.
@electric head: Overall I like the percussion. I would vary the hihat stab a bit. I would also add a bit more of the dry snare in and maybe do a low shelf on the tail so not as much lowend comes through on the reverb. The synth that plays throughout doesn't seem to match the rest of the tune IMO. I would either lowpass it a bit or go for more of a square wave type deal doing the same thing. Like the little gated lead that plays in the beginning. I like the percussion you add in, particularly that sort of delayed echo effect. Also, I really like that congo'ish sound that's playing quarternote triplets. I like the sweeps. It might could use some sort of pad underneath everything to glue it all together. I really like this though.
Here's my newest WIP I started yesterday. It's a big away from what I usually produce. It's not really mixed or anything and I still haven't come up with a way to get everything to fit together well, but let me know what you all think.

@cmgoodman1226 I like that synth in the intro. The drums are also top notch. Maybe, another bass layered just to fatten the sound underneath up?
@1stfiest Good formants but I feel there's too much top end in this track.
@Electric_Head Nice vibe coming from this track. I don't know much about this style so I don't know how helpful my feedback'll be. Maybe needs a bit more energy at parts.
So, I've almost finished this. I know the mixdown needs work but I'm pretty new to this so I need more specific tips for this song.

@Living_Tragedy - Y U NO DROP LIKE A BO:55? Just kidding, great track all in all, only thing I actually really disliked were the vocals not a Gaga fan. Nice melody and track construction.
@cmgoodman1226 - Epic acapella, I like the sub and the synth. That saw's pretty sexy too.
@1stfiest - Got me swaying side to side with your track! Fucking epic, little mixing down and I reckon this'll be a banger!
-----------
This is my track, 127 BPM. Erm, made on FL Studio 10 with N.I Massive.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Hi! Really need help deciding which way to go in my song (it is totally unmixed).
I have two different drops as you can hear here (song is for the moment called Chinese War Robots), which is the one you think is the best? They are both very much WIP.
1:
Soundcloud
2:
Soundcloud
It is the first electronic song I make so I don't know which has the best mixing potential. In some way I like the second one best but I think it'll be really hard for me to mix it correctly to sound "heavy" since that is what I'm aiming for. And the first one gives me headache but kinda is heavy. Which direction would you go if you are unsure of the mixing capabilities?
Thanks in advance and sorry if I did anything wrong with this post.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Thanks for your feedback guys, il try a few mixes out, one without the bitcrushed bass, maybe one with less drums and a bit more minimal, and one where i sample the vocals a bit better at the begining. and maybe a combination of these 3 things, with less high and mid frequencies overall. Thanks alot for all your feedback its muchly appreciated

I'd love to give feedback but I really am a total noob at this kind of music. I will try to give feedback when I get home from university aswell.MrAural wrote:Myriad wrote:Hey guys, I wanted to share my newest WIP with all of you before i head to work. FEEDBACK - I've left feedback for the tunes on this page who have left feedback. Will leave more soon.
MrAural
You got the feel there but it feels a little empty, maybe some percussions parts or an instrument with a tad more depth. Loving the vibes tho and the drums are coooool
Electric_Head
I love the harp? sound after the bass kicks in. Deep deep stuff. Loving it!
Living_Tragedy
Parts of the drop are messy, the more distorted sound needs fine tuning. Also, the snare, I don't really like it, i think its a tad thin, maybe layer with something that has some lower body.
cmgoodman1226
I really love that clap ha. The track has a real Julio Bashmore feel and that is a fucking good thing. Love how the diff vocal parts are interact with each other. When done buzz me a 320 as my friends and I are vibing to this sort of stuff big time at.
NEW TUNE
Well, as you can tell by the file name I've been really digging Koan Sound / Kill The Noise recently and I've been focusing more on creating basses and working on automation so this is the newest tune I'm working on. I've played this to a friend of mine who is part of Statix and he's given me a load of advice with the next step of processing the basses so at the moment they are a tad, tad, tad muddy and the top end (5k+) needs a bit of bite but I'm already working on that. Would love your thoughts! Got loads of tunes like this on the go atm.

@Living_Tragedy : I like it, but her voice on that pitch is sorta annoying to me, but thats my opinion, the bass is boss.
@MrAural: The 2nd to last basslines does not need to go up a note imo.
@Myriad : The sync is kinda sloppy mate. But the End is nice.
------------------------------------------------
My WIP, I put maybe 2 hours into this. I know the Drums need work, and maybe so does the bass line, I need some ideas.

@SupaRaiden64
I'd first work on the intro atmosphere, add a few hits here and there with some reverb and delay also add some reverb on the drums at the beginning just to give them some more presence. the drop itself is not a bad idea I liked the way it came in although the mid bass is horrible to my ears (not a fan of mid bass in general) the background noise not sure what to call it makes it sound like Halloween or a video game I'd take that out and put a nice dark pad over it doing maybe a hit every 16 bars with some delay and reverb as always.
@Burgeamon
Funky number you got there intro does not work for me put main hook is a nice spin on the usual wobbly stuff I'm a fan (Even though I would tear the mid bass off make it more dungeony
) Drums work well so does the low end I love the hip hoppy one shots aswell
@MrAural
Same as said above feels a bit empty bring the drums through a lot more I can see it has big potential just few levels and that!
Something I been working on today main hooks a bit dry but I have a problem with making stuff end so minimal it gets boring and loses even my interest
any feedback appreciated!

I'll let you know when I'm happy with it. I had a listen today and decided a lot of it sounds shit, so I'm going to scrap a lot of it and rework some stuff.cmgoodman1226

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@in the crowd: Like the beginning. The vocals are spot on. Nice experimental percussion. The drop is nice. Feel like something definitely needs to come in above that synth just as your clip ends, or there needs to be a change up. At the start of each four bars I feel like it could benefit from a nice metallic hit or a crash or something to break it up a bit. Other than that, very nice I like
@suparaiden64: Those weird build up sounds you have in the intro starting from .25 seem out of time and dont fit imo. As you already said the percussion definitely needs work. Pick some better samples. When it drops the main lead is waaaay overpowering. Drowning everything else out. Turn it down a lot.
@burgeamon: This is top notch. Love the variation of leads and the vocals. I'd like to hear some interesting fills as it progresses that break from the bass and snare for a second, just to change it up. Don't have much in the way of critics, keep going!
@mraural: I like this percussion in the beginning. Hmm where do i know that vocal sample from? I dont like the snare sample you've used. Sounds a lot like a fruity sample. Bit simple at the moment, which isn't necesssarily a bad thing but i recon this track needs something else. If you're going for the minimal sound you should maybe used some more cleverly reverbed/delayed hits to create atmosphere.
@living_tragedy: Sounded a little sketchy to start but improved 1000x when it got to .27. Think its my headphones not liking the low pass. Intro is really, really good. Drop is good. For that pianoey sound at 1:33 i feel it sound better more crisp and less reverbed or whatever effect is going on. 1:51 is a really nice change. Yehhh this is really good. good job. I feel that rising sound you have throughout and at 3.43 for example could do with being a tiny bit quieter/less in your face, overpowers the other sounds a little. I dont have any real criticism cos this is excellent.
Okay here's my track. Post dubstep/future garage whateverthehellyouwanacallit.
Basically it's finished but I don't have any monitors and am only working through shitty headphones so i'd like some opinions on the mixdown. Opinions on the song in general are ofcourse welcome too. Thanks

@stranger_sounds Wow i really dig this your mix (as it sounds on my end) is really good. The only problem i have is that it's not post dubstep its just dubstep
@cmgoodman1226 The only thing i really have to say is you should maybe change up the the clicky highhat sounds a bit. Just a little variation would improve the song greatly.
@InTheCrowd Everything sounds good (the delayed hit that sounds like a diving board is dope) its just a bit too sparse. I would try to add some sort of melodic element just a little something for my ears to hold on to.
I have been listening to way too much disco/latin jazz lately Soundcloud

@terryfunk ; cant say anything i dont like haha tiny bit of a plone pluxus vibe what i love did you play the melody on top yourself really nice! hm this style doesnt depend to much on mixing i really like it as it is.
@stranger sounds ; really nice use of the frequency spectrum with the deep sub and the high hi hats. only some sounds are bit sharp together but that could just be on my headphones
@inthecrowd yeah really like the vocals and the pad but the hi hats are maybe to loud in the mix maybe just take them down a little bit and add some more sapces so you dont get to repetitive as you said
a tune started i didnt really give a fuck about making it louder and better mix and stuff but souncloud would destroy it anyways just want to create something that get on the nerves

Heya guys I made this 16 bar loop but have no idea if its good (not made anything for months) and Im not sure where to go with it.
Do i sorta make a buildup then do a dorp with a sub sub base and create a new melody line with that intro synth or something else?
Always gets confused on how to vary up my track rather than copy pasting 8bar loops

@SupaRaiden64- To be honest, I didn't really like your track that much
. The intro is a little bit boring and could certainly use some percussive elements to break up the synths. The part between the intro pads and the drop with the gun sample was a bit cool. You should try to expand upon that. The bass was a bit fucking strange. Try eq-ing out those stray frequencies. Or just cut the mid range bass altogether and go for a more IDMish track
.
@InTheCrowd- Love this track. Deffinately reminds me of more Sepalcure. Spot on production and nice sampling. Excellent work.
@BudSpencertron- I dunno, the mix sounded pretty damn good to me. If anything, just turn up all the levels a bit
But seriously, a great track overall.
For my newest track, I finally decided to move away from brostep and try for a more dungeony feel. Let me know what you think!
